I work with a big Coventry fan, so I knew Jimmy Hill was not well (diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2008) and that things were getting worse.

Jimmy was certainly the face of football in my childhood and he seemed to be able to move with the times - as football changed his opinion never seemed outdated.

What an amazing legacy he leaves - from the scrapping of maximum wage for footballers to 3 points for a win and all-seater stadiums

Memorably he ran the line in a 1st Division match (would never happen now with the 4th official)

We have our own piece of history with Jimmy - the Coventry game where we played out a draw for both teams to stay up

RIP Jimmy - a top football man

    Likewise.

A major factor of the professional game in the 60's, 70's, 80's and beyond.

By all accounts he wasn't a precious person either, and modern day players earning millions should say thank you to the deals he struck and his legacy.

    RIP Jimmy <rose>

Very sad, a genuine football man who cared about the game itself, not the money in generates. His kind will not be seen within the game again I fear.

    RIP Jimmy
