http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/jim-white/hate-name-hull-tigers-just-don-t-163555696.html Good article. Interesting rallying cry for the media to carry on calling us Hull City no matter what the FA decide Although it's a little ironic considering the majority of the media only call us "Hull" and omit "city".
I'm sure the Premier League/FA only release fixture lists and results on the understanding that the correct names are used with allowances for shortening them.
Unfortunatly the media will not follow this course. Todays headlines are tomorrows fish paper is the old cliche and once the FA make their decision the story will drift away.
I think you are right about the media and using the name but I think that if they FA allow the name change there will be no drifting away. Every match will see boos whenever "Hull Tigers" is announced and there will be demonstrations. When Allam goes the new owner will change the name back to Hull City AFC.
It would make sense, but it won't happen. Someone with an agenda will always open another. Interestingly about 50% of the press articles pre dating this move referred to us as The Tigers anyway. As indeed did TV and Radio commentators. Including many of those who now ridicule the name.
That is because 'The Tigers' is our 'Nickname'. The club name is Hull City AFC. It is not an amalgamation of both.
Yes, I'm aware of that. Nevertheless, it is somewhat ironic that newspapers that have referred to us for years as "The Tigers" are now ridiculing the name. We fans have some justification for liking or disliking the title, the journalists are just hypocrites.
I must of missed the media ridiculing our nickname "The Tigers" any links? We have the best nickname in the country & I'd like to respond to their ridicule. Would you prefer the name of our club to remain as Hull City or do you prefer Hull Tigers?
Its likely that some radio stations or sports programs will just say "Hull" if they were to lose the city, i doubt that they will still be allowed to say city.
They omit the City, United, Rovers or whatever for teams with only one football club. Leeds, Newcastle or whatever. It isn't something unique to is.
Are you as dense as you appear? They are not ridiculing the fact our nickname is the Tigers but the fa t fhe chairman wants to alter the club name, replacing the City part with our nickname. Just as they would ridicule Newcastle Magpies, Grimsby Mariners, Bristol Pirates or any other plans to do something so ridiculous.
You don't appear to have a clue. City could well have been marketed as 'The Tigers', anywhere and everywhere, as that's our nickname - it says it on the badge, ffs. We don't need to lose the traditional name 'Hull City' in order for the raising of funds/investment, do we?
The pro-name change people are getting more and more desperate with their scare stories and downright misrepresentations.
I don't think there is any pro name change people It's those who hate the name change v those who aren't that bothered . For all sorts of reasons . Can't work out why someone whose not that bothered gets slagged off . I'm not that bothered ..but I'm still a loyal supporter ....always will be. Here's to a win today....21 points at this stage will be great . Have a good day at the kc what ever your view is
