yes good luck to him.As regards his G1 record it is probably about the same as William Carson's in 1977, when he was appointed to the top job at West Ilsley.
If Jim Crowley is going to be going all over the place to ride in the Sheikh Hamdan blue and white, his chances of retaining his Champion Jockey title must be about zero unless his agent can book him a decent set of outside rides at every meeting that he has to go to just to ride some moderate beast for his retainer.
He had won a classic and been champion jockey twice by then. Don't know how many G1s he'd had. I can't see Crowley ending up anywhere near as successful as Carson. Good luck to him though.
Carson was 35 and a really good jockey when he went to Hern. The fact that he could ride at about 7-9 and was such a good jockey gave him a huge advantage in the number and choice of rides he could take ans hence the number of winners he rode. But although he'd won two classics and a handful of Group 1s his career was about to take off in terms of the quality of horse and type of winners he was to ride.. Today's racing scene is so different. Being with Coolmore or another big owner has meant you are more likely to ride G1 winners. The ownership demographics were very different in Carson's days. Crowley is now at the top table, even if posted at the end of it.
