Anyone else getting fed up with this same old ****ing excuse that keeps coming out of Jewells mouth??

Why not say 'I am the manager and am ****ing useless at picking a team capable of getting at least a point'

At least this would be honest!!

    Also he said,

“From the front, through to the midfield to the back four, we get exposed too quickly by teams running through the midfield, and we’ve got to work harder when we’re not in possession.”

Teams are running through us because we have no pace in the centre of the park, thats clear for all to see!!

It’s pretty clear from the comments on the performances week after week that we are continuously failing miserably in the absolute basics (Posh away an obvious example). Excuses and complaints like the ones he’s making about the team’s performances are baffling. It’s not like he took charge yesterday of a bunch of blokes who hadn’t hitherto even seen a football.

Am I being unfair or do Jewel and his pals give every impression of being no longer capable of coaching a team? Has he changed that much since his Wigan days? Has football and footballers changed that much that he’s now a useless manager? What’s going on?

Apart from not blowing millions on transfer fees this the Keane saga over again: few signings actually taking us forward in those positions; loan after loan after loan; still no right back – how demented do you have to be to sign seven (or whatever it is now) players, bring in nine thousand loanees and still ignore the fact that we haven’t a right back? Is there some sort of weird, X-Files style blind spot at the club over the right back position? Will we see Mulder and Scully any time soon scratching their heads around Playford Road wondering how this bizarre situation could possibly continue?

Anyhow, the right back position is but one problem. It might be my imagination, but are the performances, generally speaking, even worse than under Keane? He’s only had about 40% of Keane’s league games and 20% of Magilton’s so perhaps it’s unfair to compare, but Jewel’s loss rate is worse than both of them (43% to 36% and 35%). We can all remember some dire performances under Keane and especially Magilton – but so many so regularly as we’ve been seeing?

The loss rate is a bit misleading because we drew a hell of a lot of games under Keane but won hardly any.

I must admit I was watching Tony Mowbray and it struck me something he said about never wanting to manage at Ipswich. As though something behind the scenes was rotten to the core.

When we start getting a repeat of the unthinkable Keane-era and the prospect of rubbing shoulders with Morcambe next season starts to rear its head you have to start to think that our failings go beyond the man in the dugout.

PJ's press conferences now give the impression that he's shrugging his shoulders at the whole thing.

PJ hasn't exactly been inspirational from the outset but not sure if that he is just a realist or is short of enthusiasm.

He's starting to sound like Nigel Clough and we all know that Clough could be at Derby for ten years and never get close to promotion.

I just don't know whether he's trying to show the fans he's an 'honest guy', and isn't going to pull the wool over our eyes by saying it how it is.

That's all well and good, but if he keeps fannying about with the same tactics (four CMs in midfield!) and doesn't address the problems he's highlighted, we're going to still be in the same situation.

I can't help but feel his intention is right in the press conferences, but his application in team selection, tactics and the like is just woeful. If we lose next week, one has to expect he's going to be heading to the exit door.

I'm afraid that the clock is ticking on his reign!

If we lose in front of the Sky cameras to Coventry next week the knives will definately be out!

i'm a big fan of paul jewell and i think he will turn it around but as has been said many times on the threads how can we expect to be be a good side when we dont have a right back and play with no wingers. PJ repeatedly says he eventually wants to play 4-4-2 but at the moment it isnt possible, how the **** can it be with 4 centre mids who have the acceleration of our old hero Jim Magilton!
