Sunday Jet was instrumental in everything going forward from his drive up the pitch attacking Coventry,to his long throws into the heart of the penalty area. What worry's me if teams can stop him, then we will struggle, the majority of Sunday went through him. class player,we need to keep him injury free and playing,so so important to the way we play.
It's a worry that virtually everything we do goes through JET and if he is off form, suspended, or injured then do we have a Plan B ?
To be honest i am amazed he is with us far to good for league 1,i just hope he keeps performing, the fitter he gets the better he will become. SoD obviously gets the best from him. I would like to see him made captain and lead by example.
'then do we have a Plan B ?' SOD's Plan A and Plan B is ***ing Kilkenny and Fontaine. Not a bloody clue. SOD commented 'we knew they (Coventry) could score but equally they let goals in'. Hang on 2-2 and 5-4 - Ring any bells ?
A lot of our attack comes from our midfield. JET is the person who ends the attack not starts it. Usually the ball is played into a dangerous position for JET to do the rest of the damage. Its silly to say you stop him you stop city. Stop our midfield feeding him the ball then you stop city. JET will always find away to be a danger if he is in the mood for it and not to sound cocky about our player but he wont be stopped no matter how hard the other team try when he is on one. Drop fontaine and JET will help us get right up that table and stay there.
I get the point though. If JET gets injured (its not likely he will play every game this season) then we need a plan B. With Adomah gone, do we have an attacking threat elsewhere ? Cant think that we do actually. I think SOD should consider giving Burns a run in the first team, as he is probably the one most likely to develop into one PS : Dont start getting on SOD's case just yet RP. Its early even by your standards. Lets at least give him until October - anything else is just dumb. I predicted that he would have a hit or miss start to the season, which would continue right up until October. Then he would get it right and start to climb up to the play off positions. I think we have all seen enough promise in what he is trying to do to know that, with a few minor alterations, things could get interesting. He has made some excellent signings, and just needs to get it right defensively (bit like the other managers who also picked Fontaine). He gets my vote for the time being
Shiny Sunday JET was coming back and picking up the ball and taking it forward through them, the problem was the middle of defense was complete and utter rubbish Flint included. Jet was working his balls off trying to create which he did very well. But you are correct if the defense, and midfield, were doing their jobs right,JET should be on the receiving end and takeing the ball into the oppositions goalmouth. Sunday he worked hard, and the fans were appreciative of that with the continuous JET will tear you apart songs.
What I mean is if you look at how we played last Tuesday which will be the style we will see most throughout the season, Our midfield would keep the ball until JET or Baldock made the run. If SOD picked the right team, then yesterday wouldn't of happened. Im getting tired of blaming Fonts as its more the managers fault for playing him. JET 9/10 this season will be unplayable. His impact will only benefit us if our defence are solid though
SOD will have to take the flak if he keeps playing him,the player is doing what his boss has asked. In a minute you can sence the fans will make in well known inside Ashton Gate regards Fontaine. All you can hope is SOD drops him before it happens.
'Dont start getting on SOD's case just yet RP. Its early even by your standards' You're referring to Millen and McInnes - Early or not I wasn't wrong. 'He has made some excellent signings' - Really ? Fielding looks a joke and how do you know anything about Williams, SOD keeps picking Fontaine. Shiny tells me Wynter looks good yet SOD dropped him and played Kilkenny (my views about Kilkenny are well known). FFS, Kilkenny gets subbed at 3-0 and we win the 2nd half. SOD should be pilloried for setting the side up all wrong in the first place yet he gets an easy ride. Fans moan about Kilkenny and Fontaine yet SOD doesn't get any grief. You'll have the usual suspects defending daft decisions by SOD - the same ones who backed McInnes. However, it is a bit early but the signs don't encourage me.
Yes it is a bit early ( its not even September FFS ) I agree about Fielding, I think his self esteem is leaking out of his trouser legs down into a nearby drain as we watch, and its high time we gave Parrish a go, something I am sure will happen soon enough. No we dont know anything about Williams, but there is always hope and he cant be as blindingly crap as Fontaine can he ? Wynter, Pack, JET (how good do you want it ? ) and I happen to think Flint and Wagstaff will shape up pretty good. Bringing in 5 new players to the side takes time to see which ones will be the mainstays. Ironic that its one of the old ones that has caused such panic, but then like everyone else on here I dont understand what it is about Fontaine that has mesmerised 4 managers (5 if you count Coppel a manager) into playing him. I can only assume that he has kidnapped their children and tied them to a tree somewhere in the countryside. Kilkenny until last night had done a reasonable job in the first 2 matches in being that creative midfield passer that everyone wants. But then many things happened last night that nobody expected, including Coventry not lying down on the pitch and letting us walk all over them. They had a serious point to prove to their own fans and took it out in the only way they could, which is fair enough. I dont know about Kilkenny. Some days he looks like an international, others he plays like the tea lady. SOD is still formulating a team, saddled with a majority of players who have been lamentable under 4 managers for the past 3 years. Its not going to happen overnight. Yes we all want the best for our club, but throwing out the baby with the bathwater will just see us playing Bristol derbies again and the only place I want to see that is in the premiership -) Give the boss time to do his job. Just like to add that Fontaine didnt show enough quality at Northampton to justify making a career in pro football, and Elliott's goal was the best he has scored in a City shirt
JET is the only creative player we have. Kilkenny is not up to competing or tracking back so means we're always 1 light in midfield - especially away. BRR - SOD will get there in the end, just frustrates the **** out of me he can't see it now. 'I can only assume that he has kidnapped their children and tied them to a tree somewhere in the countryside' Brilliant.
He needs to drop this week Fontaine, give Fielding the Wolves game,if he messes up then bring Parish in at MK Dons.
