Officially Unveiled: http://www.itfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10272~2402190,00.html Town have signed Jay Emmanuel-Thomas from Arsenal in a three year deal. The 20-year-old midfielder arrives at Portman Road for an undisclosed fee and is set to make his first appearance for Blues in tonight's friendly at Colchester. The England U19 international becomes Town's second signing of the day with David Stockdale arriving on loan from Fulham for the season. Jay, who progressed through the youth ranks at the Emirates after being spotted at the age of seven, made five appearances for the Gunners. He has also experienced the Championship with loan spells at Blackpool, Doncaster and Cardiff, where he was part of the side that reached the Play-Offs last season. "Obviously it came to the stage in my career at Arsenal where I needed to be playing games. I had a decision to make and Ipswich seemed the right place for me," Jay told the Club website. "I had a good time at Arsenal and I'm going to miss all the boys but my future is about me and I needed to move on. "I was impressed with what Paul Jewell had to say - and the team he is building. I know he is looking to bring in more players and it is the club's ambition to get in the Premier League. That's my goal as well, to play in the Premier League with Ipswich." ----- Thoughts folks?
Solves the will he Wont he, always rated him as good a prospect as Wilshere. Hopefully he'll fulfill his early promise. I wish him & any other of our departees all the best with their future careers.
I hope he signs for Barca one day then says he wants to come back to Arsenal because "it's in his DNA".
You always had the feeling that he was made to look better then he actually is because of his size. The guy was just bullying kids in the youth level. It was too easy for him. After his championship spell i think he knows that himself. Also he is very slow at times and relies too much on tricks and flicks. Once he found out that his size and power was not enough he struggled badly. Also not actually finding a set position never helped him. The best he can hope for is a decent career at a club in the bottom half of the prem.
