Just spied this - hard on the heels of Clegg making lame excuses for not having undersoil heating. No wonder they can only half-fill a stadium http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=20188 What about the poor 'Boro fans who made the long journey, where do they stand?
Thats terrible. I thought they had undersoil heating as well..... my bad! Even if it was a PR stunt they should at least offer the fans the same tickets for no extra cost.
you would have thought with all the money they waste on Bullard etc they could afford a couple of garden incinerators and a night watchman to keep them burning, could have burnt all those unused seats if they could not afford the fuel lol!
Should take a leaf out of MKDons book. They know how to look after away supporters when games are called off.
how many will they have for the re-arranged game i wonder. two men and a dog ( if they let her in ) i expect. just under half their usual crowd.
"Obviously we understand the fans' frustrations but a lot of people worked very hard to ensure the game went ahead. Our groundstaff worked through the night from Wednesday onwards and could not have done anymore. So the Binners 'only' had a 'full' 3-1/2 days and nights to 'ensure' the game went ahead, and still failed miserably!! Then insult Middlesborough fans by offering half price tickets for the re-arranged game. No wonder no one goes to watch them. Middlesborough fans should save their money and boycott the game in future. ILD OTBC
ipswich town's pr machine is about as useless as liverpool's! on the ticket thing, i can (sort of) understand why the club have said you have to pay 50% for a ticket to the rematch. the club still have to pay for all stewards and policing costs, lighting, etc etc. however, they have made a right mess of the whole situation and yet again the owner and ceo look amateurish in their running of the club. as usual, its the fans who suffer the most and not just the boro fans - i'm sure there were just as many home fans who had to travel vast distances at extreme expense to themselves to watch that pile of ****e whilst dressed as blue seats...
Disgraceful, there's no way a club should profit from calling a game off the tickets should be free to everyone that held them for the cancelled match. If you go to a concert that's cancelled you get offered alternative tickets or a refund - should be the same here
Thanks for the update, Welly, but why oh why are Middlesbrough Football Club finding themselves out of pocket because of the failings of your club over which they (MFC) have no control Fortunately incidences like this are very rare, but for a team with supposed Premier League ambitions, 1p5wich are treating this like a Blue Square club would be expected to!
i don't think it should be down to middlesbrough to refund the fans either. the referee ultimately made the call but it was ipswich town who should have called the game off the day before or at least the morning of the match. they must have known things wouldn't improve once they took their 'balloon' off! very nice gesture by boro, looking after their fans though
What?????? are you sure you've got that right????? WHO would travel vast distances to watch them attempt to play football???? No sane people thats for sure!!! ILD OTBC
In our clubs defence for actually starting the game, The match ref decided the pitch was perfectly playable only just about an hour before kick-off, it was just a drop in temp that made the pitch unplayable. In hindsight, the ref should have took that into consideration earlier on during the day. Regards the 50% ticket debarcle! As a town fan i expected this line taken from the **** Cleggy, He has no consideration for the fans or the image of ITFC just the bottom line so he can suck off Marcus Evans in the knowledge that he has made a couple more dirty pounds out of the poor sods that support our club!
