http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Bris...lbert-Adomah/story-16182735-detail/story.html This thread literally gives me no hope in our new chairmen Things like this Swans chief Huw Jenkins has been in contact with in-coming City chairman Keith Dawe, who is set to take over from Colin Sexstone next Thursday. Although the Welsh club has yet to make a formal bid, Jenkins and Dawe have discussed the possibility of Adomah moving from Ashton Gate to the Liberty Stadium this summer. There will be no further talks until Dawe returns from holiday in the United States later this month, but City are determined not to allow one of their best players to leave on the cheap. No!! this should read But city are determined not to lose one of there best players this tells me he Dawe will settle rather than fight Great...................
This looks like a poor way to run your outfit. It's been known that Sexstone is 'standing down' for a little while now; yet the point of handover is when Dawe is on holiday.....during the close season when transfers are being arranged!! A dismal state of affairs!!
I think the Caroyol rumours must be true then, we would have Bolasie and Carayol as switch about wingers and make a good wedge on Adomah, who to be honest fell away form wise quite dramatically at the end of the season..
' There will be no further talks until Dawe returns from holiday in the United States later this month, but City are determined not to allow one of their best players to leave on the cheap.' I think this sentence from the article states the bleeding obvious.. * There will be no further talks until.. * Dawes will take over discussions when he returns from his holidays (When Sexstone has gone).. * None of our quality players will leave on the cheap.. Also, the transfer period does not officially start until July1st, everything seems to be under control.
If we can get good money for Albert then we should do so, if he's willing to move. Adomah, like so many wingers, isn't a consistent player, and many Championship teams have him sussed. Give me Keith Dawe over Fatty Sextoy any day of the week.
well to move foward we have to keep our best players, I'd rather have adomah then 3 mill p.s if maynard was going for 6 million with 12 months on his contract albert should be around the same with double that
Anything above £3m I would take. First half of the season he was very good in a city team that couldnt win. Second half of the season he didn't look good when we were winning. so looked like the other players stepped up in the second half of the season and he didn't. The telling part was the number of games DM had him on the bench which was right as he was lacking form. With Yannis and rumour of other players it might be an ideal to let him good if we can get some money as I do wonder since Nicky went whether he, like Maynard thinks he is too big for the club. The other option I'd take is a swap for Sinclair or Dyer though I'm sure Swansea are looking at Albert because some bigger team are looking at Sinclair who had a very good first season in the prem. I thought I read though that Albert was Swanseas second choice as they originally wanted Phillips of Blackpool
All paper talk, unless you hear it from Dawe take it as a pinch of salt. 3 mil for a player like Adomah is good business, but I doubt its true. As good as Albert is, there is better knocking around for a similar price.
Rhino.......3 mil for a player like Adomah is freakin' out of this world business!.......I would be absolutely shocked if any team were to offer 2 or 3 mil for him. Sure he has pace and skill but was pretty much average at best at the end of the season and as mentioned above, it didnt take long for teams to work him out. If he goes for that money, good luck to the lad and good business for us.....if he stays (which I think he will) then a bit of top coaching and some more experience under his belt could see us with a more finished article.
Yep agree with all of that Caldicot... Like I say, better players knocking around that are Alby for that kind of money. We keep hold of a half decent Championship winger.
I would take the 3 million on offer. With some sell on's. As much as I rated him in the first 6 months last season. When we needed him he went off the boil. Plus when Del dropped him we started to have a bit of balance. As stated here teams him out. Has loads of pace, can dribble past most defenders, but shooting so so, final pass lets him down. But as I said on here before, he don't seem to have a footballers brain. He always uses the same move. 5 yards inside our half collect ball. Hold ball, pass to right back, wait till right back passes it back then try and get passed 2-3 players. Granted he does well at that. Sad if he goes, joy to watch when on form. But 3 million is a good profit on what we paid.
Agree about Albie - if the money is offered it would be hard to turn down (£2.5 plus Dobbie?) The club have said they are not interested in Caroyol
"The club have said they are not interested in Caroyol" Expect us to sign him within two weeks then...
Also at the bottom of the page that you put a link on this thread Shiny Saying the interest in Caroyol is without foundation Like Banksy says probably sign within 2 weeks
Well fair enough, Altough i think we should be diggin around the lower leagues for some gems, Albert came from there so it shows they can make the step up, Dissapointed we have ended interest in Marlon Pack, Heard great things about him and thought it would be good to have him within the team It does seem im the only one on here that wants to keep albert :/ this comment sums it up perfectly for me Let's be honest, Albert was one of many players in an entire team lacking in confidence! The man has undoubted talent, and we have precious few of his kind in the present squad! So, when a entire team consistently plays mediocre football, is it fair to heap intolerable expectation on one or two talented individuals to 'carry' the hopes and fortunes of the team? Sure, Albert faded badly around New Year, but he nevertheless found his form again during the end-of-season run-in when McInness introduced a few half-decent players. Any thoughts of selling Albert ought to tempered with considerable caution! Last season was abysmal, and we should NOT be surprised if talent such as Albert's was not shining through when you were playing in a team who were severely under-performing. How can you express your talent freely if your confidence, and those of your team-mates, is low? Now that we gained a reprieve, we need to ensure that we not only keep players like Albert, but add further quality to the squad if we are going to mount a promotion challenge within the next season or two. Let's wait and see what the summer transfer activity produces. Unless McInness has someone exceptional lined-up as a replacement - which I doubt - I'm inclined to say "Keep Albert, we need him and others like him!". 'Don't throw the baby out with the bath water
I'm quite happy with what Dawe said - I think he's referring to the Maynard situation that he did leave on the cheap, and it's a message to clubs interested in Albert that it'll need to be a very good offer to even consider letting our best players go but everyone has a price. I wouldn't necessarily want to see Albert leave but if we got a shed load of cash, and we picked up a winger then was actually good at crossing the ball then I'd be happy. I've just watched the Women's FA Cup final and The way Birmingham could cross the ball put our wingers to shame!
