Jerry Leiber, lyricist, partner with Mike Stoller in writing many great hits, has died at the age of 78. Together, they were credited with bringing (Black) Rhythm 'n' Blues into (White) pop. Songs include: Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, Stand By Me, Spanish Harlem, There Goes my Baby.....
RIP, another one of his classics....
Another. Not the original - but a classic
Did he play for the mighty Tigers? Support us? Pass through the city once by accident? No? Oh sorry, I thought there was a general forum for stuff like this, and this forum was for City related bollocks. My bad.
They were brilliant record producers too. Just one example (of the many) being Stuck In the Middle by Stealer's Wheel! RIP
Just a massive roster of songs! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Songs_written_by_Jerry_Leiber_and_Mike_Stoller
As used by Quentin Tarantino in his "Reservoir Dogs":
Unfortunately UnaBomber I bought the record (as a 13 year old in 1973) when it first came out, so my memories tend to be of the that time really. I got it from Regis Records, Holderness Rd - anyone remember the record shop? I saw the Tarrantino piece just once and felt a little nauseous afterwards...strange chap Tarrantino!
Sorry about that, Lincoln. I just pasted it up cos I thought it would reach some of the younger fans on here. Never had the single (or album) myself and didn't know JL had produced it. I'm old enough, though, to have bought Coasters' singles when they were released....
606 blind date, Sunday League Football, Eto'o transfer, Hull Museum of Club culture all have nothing to do with City. Why didn't you go on those threads and whinge? Sad to hear of the passing of someone whose writing gave so much pleasure to people. Unlike your writing.
