He's just tweeted this. I can't score a free kick if there isn't 1 around the box and I played bloody wing back today I've never ever been a full back in my life.
Sgt Pennant will leave in the Summer tbh I would not blame him if he did. HOW the hell can you expect either Ether's or Pennant to CREATE send over a DECENT cross without a half decent PASS.. said this a million times Sgt.. It's the MIDFIELD that is NOT good enough.. Whelan, ? Whitehead can FOUL but can not pass.. Delap see Whitehead and he's past it anyway. Diao ditto. Palacios DID not START WHY? Until Pulis see's the fecking obvious we're going nowhere fast IMO. Just heard Pulis say "It's difficult to have a go at the player's today" or words to that effect.. **** ME. NO it isn't Pulis you should be ripping their HEADS OFF and WHY can you NOT motivate 11 men to actually TRY and ONE shot on target all game say's it all. Hoof, hoof and more hoof bypassing the midfield will get us didley squat. Crouch is lost so are Ether's and Pennant without decent service. From midfield? They are ineffective and always will be.. rant over.
I can't argue with that Potts, progress this season was supposed to be finishing in the top 10, but that will not happen with performances like today. We will live to fight another season in the Premier League but unless TP changes his philosophy drastically it is likely to be our last. You cannot hope to survive by playing defensive football and without any creativity. The goals scored (or lack of them) and terrible GD says it all for me. It will not surprise me if JP leaves, Jerome is not happy, and who knows who else is p***ed off with TP and his tactics.
Well I am very disapointed to say the least. Yes a decent line up today but I ask as you do Potts why no Palacios?? You can be sure that Pennant will be on the bench at most next week. I would like to have seen Ethringtons' reaction at being subbed. So from two wingers albeit Pennant operating as a wing back to none. I suppose Jerome was on the left after 49 minutes! Stats say 2 shots on target! TP must have some idea why we have only scored 29 goals! If he has said 'How can I have a go at lads after that,' I gues he added it was our 49th game of the season! My, he has rotated the players and they just had 7 days break after a difficult 4 games of Chelsea Liverpool, Spurs and Man City! Thye should have been buoyed up to take 3 points today especially after last weekend! My guess is that Pennant, Ethrington, Crouch and Jerome will want away unless Pullis vows to attack! Well Wolves next week and they will be fighting for their lives!
P P For what it's worth imo there is NO way we're finishing in the top 10 it would take a miricle reults wise and even Pulis does not do miricles. IF he thinks this season is progress he really is clueless... I never mind losing but to just play as we did today is NEVER acceptable and Pulis should be MAN enough to come out and say as much. In his interview he didn't do that. As Waddo has said before, he thinks we're all mugs which, we certainly are not. Unlike the higher than mighty Pulis we see the OBVIOUS faults within.
We had no fight or spirit today! we looked like we couldnt be bothered and just gifted them the 3 points, the performance and result has to be much bettet next week against the dingles!
I'm afraid to say mate, no I haven't. Didn't even watch the game today either which is most unusual for me. It was a toss up between renovating my house at the weekends or watching my beloved Stoke. to be honest whilst Pulis is at the helm i'm so dispondent with it the house won. I've watched Stoke in league 2 home and away and like most Stoke fans i hate to see us lose but if we have the right team selection and we go for it then I can live with that. But when TP leaves out players for no other reasons than sheer vindictiveness and plays such boring negative away tactics it's kind of lost it for me. I remember reading a guy's comments not so long ago in the Evening Sentinel and i thought how true is that, he said "going to watch Stoke at the moment is like going to work" Whichafter some of the games we have played this season I think is a pretty fair assessment. So I thought to myself if I'm going to feel like going to work I may as well do just that, but on my house! Probably take in the odd game next season and a few select away games but I'm pretty much down on the way we are playing at the mo under TP! I know quite a few of my mates, all lifelong Stokies too and not just the new ones since we got prem status, they have not renewed either so it will be inmtersting to see the season ticket holder figures this coming season!
Sorry to hear that. I do empathise. I was looking earlier to see what take up there has been on the Stoke site and no comment has yet been made. I do not know if you have read much recently on here but I suggested that it seemed like an ultimatum to TP from PC to finish the season strongly or else he will not get funds in the summer. I think there are a good number of 'key' players unhappy with tactics at present and whilst I see comments on the Oatcake suggesting that Crouch is way oout of sorts, my retort is that he is not getting the service and support he needs to opertae at his mostr effective. Ethrington likewise, he has not had a left footed left back making space or giving options to him. Last Saturday I just thought that he was drifting infield on direction from TP. Pennant has fallen out big time and I do not think there is anyway back for him. Woodgate will no doubt go and personally I think that that might be the catalyst for Crouch to follow let alone Palacios. I think there is some serious work for Pullis to do and above all else COMMUNICATE with his players and SUPPORTERS. I expect to read in the programme next week reference to how great the support was against Citeh and to help us get 3 points against Wolves ' get behind the team and roar us to victory.' Sorry to hear your news but as you know I think all of us on here are Stoke through and through and hope that the team do move forward SOON. Hope we can meet a have a pint some time. Cris
Waddo Really sad to hear this matie but respect from me for sticking to what you think is the right thing to do. As I can no longer work, I have renewed as it kinda gives me something to do/look forward to each and every other weekend. That said, whoever did say it's like going to work is quite right. It is NOT so enjoyable as it was even the season before last, which was amazing imo. It is stressful and personally all I can say is this. IF the likes of Pennant/Crouch/Palacios/Jerome do leave in the summer I will be totally GUTTED! I sincerely HOPE you change your'e mind Waddo but would not blame you for not renewing one bit. One of my four regulars, mates for over 35 years has said like you Waddo. Enough is enough. KTF mate and good luck with the renovations.
to me fellas !! we all know what a top job he is doin !!!! and we do marmite ! but lets get this right ....................... he looks after us ! and the stoke public ? i for 1 struggle sometimes with his team selection but ffs where wud we go without him ?
Morning PotterPalm, posted after you have been on the sauce again!! How is the hangover this morning?
Silly Jermaine. You're giving Pulis an easy reason to drop you again, not that Pulis needs one. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ermaine-Pennant-hits-Tony-Pulis.html?ITO=1490 Stoke winger Jermaine Pennant has launched a scathing attack on manager Tony Pulis after being forced to play out of position against Wigan. The 29-year-old was deployed at full-back as Stoke lost 2-0 to the relegation-threatened Latics. And Pennant took to Twitter to vent his anger, saying: 'I canât score a free kick if there isnât 1 around the box and I played bloody wing back today Iâve never ever been a full back in my life.' Goals from Antolin Alcaraz and Victor Moses earned Wigan their first Barclays Premier League win at the DW Stadium for seven months to leave Stoke in 13th place. Reacting to the defeat, Pennant added: 'Our next game is a massive game and we all need to perform like we have done all season at the Brit. 'Anyway nobody is happy with that performance just as much as the fans we players get p****** of [sic] too it's not like we go out there and not try.' Pennant is no stranger to controversy and just last month the former Arsenal player was forced to deny reports that he had lost his place after breaking a curfew before Stoke's game at Everton Staying in the team hotel ahead of the match in December, he allegedly went out drinking in a nightclub and was also involved in a separate breach of discipline before the FA Cup win over Crawley. It is believed Pennant will be allowed to leave the club at the end of the season if Stoke can find a buyer. The defeat to Wigan was the Potters' 49th game of a gruelling season but goalkeeper Asmir Begovic insisted there is no lack of motivation for their final seven matches. He said: 'We deserved to lose and it's disappointing. We were a bit iffy, we didn't click. I'm sure there is some fatigue, it's difficult playing so many games but we can't use that as an excuse. 'Every game has its importance, we're a proud group of guys and we don't like performing badly and losing games. We'll bounce back I'm sure. 'We've got another seven big games left so we want to push on and finish as high as we can. There's a lot to play for and we need to put in a big performance at home to Wolves on Saturday.'
Sgt All I can say is well done to Jermaine Pennant for having a feckin rant.. I've heard from mates who we're at the game that both he and Ether's seemed to be the target from some rough treatment from certain Wigan player's?? NOT that it should be an excuse but it seemed that Pennant spent more time in their half than ours. Wilko had a nightmare.. WTF he was doing for the 2nd goal God only knows.. As for Begovic now chipping in with their is some tiredness, we know all games are still important.. a message from Pott's to each and every one of those player's yesterday.. TRY putting in the effort and STOP making ******* excuse's re 49 games played. It's Bollux and that sounded like Pulis had written it for Begovic. Pennant is right to say his piece and I don't blame him. It's about time a few more joined him and told PULIS what they really think. Even Pennant knows just how BIG that game next week is, for both clubs because he's a winner, he does not like losing, he's told Pulis indirectly reading the above. Pulis, F F SAKE he should wake up or SHUT UP! WHY did you say it's difficult to complain too much? There ISN'T Any EXCUSE for the way the team played yesterday. No doubt he will put Pennant on the bench next week.
Smither's Right now i would give my right arm to have five mins with Tony Pulis to tell him to his face. Exactly what I and many Stoke fans are thinking and saying most weekends. Take note Pulis Swansea have just lost 3-1 at Spurs yet their fans are going home happy, so they should. That, is exactly HOW I want to feel when we come away from games. I want some entertainment, some enjoyment, some passion. We are seeing none of that away from home.. and I want to know WHY! Still not calmed down after yesterday's performance my mates words we're " An absolute digrace to the Stoke City shirt" say's it all. They are diehard Stokies home and away and it simply is not acceptable.. Rant over.
