Have to admit i find it completely baffling when so called experts come out with expressions and stories like this. What on earth does he mean by " IF they are relegated". Pretty poor journalism IF you ask me.
England striker Jermain Defoe has announced his retirement from club football. The former Sunderland hitman had been in sparkling league form, but says that he now wishes to concentrate on his international career. Choice please log in to view this image 'I had to choose,” the former Spurs striker told Soccer on Sunday. “At my age, it’s hard to combine club and country. But it makes the decision a little easier when your club are a big steaming pile of donkey ****e. If we could string two passes together, or defend a corner without ****ting our pants, I’d be in two minds. Thankfully that’s not the case.” “I’ve enjoyed every minute at Sunderland,” added Defoe. “Only joking, it’s been a living nightmare. If I wanted to be spanked once a week I’d buy the missus a paddle and ask her to give my buttocks a right going over in the cellar.” “I say cellar, but it’s really more of a sex dungeon,” said Defoe. “There’s a broken hoover down there and a few bits and bobs, but it’s mostly sex stuff, to be fair.” Moyes please log in to view this image David Moyes admits to being caught unaware by Defoe’s announcement. “He did what?” the Sunderland manager told Soccer on Sunday. “The ungrateful little pox bottle. Ah Christ, no. Was he only messing, maybe? This is bad. ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****.” “****,” added Moyes. “****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****. Fanny. Does anyone have Darren Bent’s number?”
Its a massive yes from me. We should be doing everything we can to combine him and Gylfi in attack... Then he wakes up. Seriously though that would be the ideal but more than likely is that they will both have bigger and better options. The thing with Defoe is it has to be somewhere he will start. Realistically he is going to West Ham isn't he. Gylfi - I would imagine he may have options abroad.
You have 4 summer signings - who would you go for? For me I'd go Sigurdsson (27), Defoe (34), M'Vila (26), and Markovic (23). All good pedigree. All good ages where you know they will deliver. All have experience of the top flight. All in areas we need. Two of them are probably unrealistic, M'Vila it depends if you can keep him on the straight and narrow (recently caught drunk at training but it is Russia), and Markovic is probably a bit of a risk. Honestly think those 4 would transform our team. If I could add a defender then I'd go Sakho or Kone. Again probably neither that realistic. Probably a few too many ex mackems for some. However those three and Pickford are some of the better they've had in amongst the ****e.
I wouldn't take any mackems player tbh, not because their mackems, but because they aren't good enough. The only one who showed any promise was arnholt and even he couldn't defend, he was too busy attacking all the time leaving them exposed. Defoe it too old, Kirchkoff is too injury prone and the rest didn't do too much at everton 10 years ago.
If we're only allowed to get 4, we're probably fcked! And we're at the mercy of who Rafa rates and who he doesn't - the number of appearances for Colback, for example, fills me with dread. However, 4 is asked so 4 is given; AM, CF, DM and LB are the priorities for me. AM - Aaron Mooy ahead of Sigurdsson if we can get him. Really good player, lot of time on his side and I can't see City sticking with him. Really need Hudds to not go up, or even if they do for us to be the better option. CF - Mitsui Batshuayi ahead of Sturridge, 'cos he's surplus and I see Chelsea taking Lukaku back. Depends whether Everton fancy him as part of the deal. Sturridge made of glass. DM - Adam Nagy of Bologna, ahead of Asier Illarramendi or Salif Sané. DM's are really hard to pick up, Nagy seems to be a really solid prospect and Eastern Europe is a good breeding ground. LB - Luke Shaw ahead of Kieran Gibbs. Bad injury but really talented left back.
If Luke Shaw was an option then we should be all over that. However I think there would be a queue round the block and we'd be pretty far back. I don't want Sturridge at all. He is finished. Batshuayi again would be a super option but he is probably less likely then Defoe. Mooy and Nagy could be possible.
1. Dries Mertens 2. Ruben Loftus-Cheek 3. Luke Shaw 4. Ben Gibson Dries Mertens would be an ambitious target of course but it has been speculated about since he and Rafa have worked together before and he would be a hell of a marquee signing and it's a great shame Michael Owen is our record signing and Mertens would no doubt change that.
What about goals though? Mertens would be a ridiculous signing but probably pie in the sky like Defoe and Sigurdsson. Gibson would be a great signing but I think Chelsea might fancy him for Terry's replacement. Loftus Cheek not a bad shout either. Plenty of risk attached as unproven and unseen but the fleeting glimpses look good.
