Enquiry made over Defoe, but plenty of obstacles in way. But question has been asked. So I've been told. Thoughts?
Big fan of Defoe, great finisher. How old though? If we put a bid in he would want to come to us, he's bit part at Spurs. Source?
29. Has a very good record for Spurs despite struggling to get in the team this season. 32 goals in 78 games since he rejoined Spurs in 2009. Wouldn't cost too much as well...
Prefer him to bent, but spurs' cast offs? No thank you. We need to be aiming higher and splash the cash on a really good striker, not just one that 'will do'.
The guy is incredibly greedy, whenever he plays for Spurs he has 6 or 7 worthless shots until one of them go in. Stop looking at Englishmen and grab some foreign talent.
Sadly I have to agree. We've got young English talent in the reserves who have got it. Untill they're ready we need quality and there isn't any in Britain atm, bar Rooney. Best finisher is probably still the judas bastard at United.
For some reason I am yes and no on this, think he adds that pace and something different and he can score but I just feel we should be going for better.
With our young strikers in the ranks an experienced striker like Defoe would be useful to use whilst they mature. But wouldn't say no to a young goal scorer though.
Won't happen, Harry has known the lad since he was a kid. Don't really need him in fairness, we have Kuyt, Bellamy, Suarez, Carroll. still think Carroll will come good, just a matter of time.
Mr Wright = Mr Wrong I'm just not sure with Defoe. Do we need a goalscorer? Yes...obviously. Is Defoe a goalscorer? Yes...(again) obviously Do I think he's the answer? No...not really. But would I complain if he was banging in goals for us? No...obviously not Will this happen? Nah...doubt it.
IMO he's a proven goalscorer and is the kind of player we could use. If under 10 million then I think he's well worth a punt.
Defoe hasn't been greedy for a long time now, some of his finishing in the box can be questionable but he doesn't half have scoring record once he gets going. Last year, obviously he was very poor but it's to his credit that in the summer he hired a fitness coach and spent his holidays in France getting himself in great shape for the new season. I'm sure he'd be interested if you bid for him but I don't think we'd let him go cheaply. Ultimately I don't think it will happen.
