Rumours are growing that Jermaine Beckford has been transfer listed. I think it was always going to happen because of his attitude and work ethic isnt good enough. He doesnt contribute alot to the team which is something Nigel demands from everyone. I think we should be looking to get back what we paid for him (Around 2M). I dont think we would have a problem selling him at that price but the stumbling block comes with the wages. Is Beckford going to lower his demands because i doubt anyone will match them Jamie Vardy seems close to signing according to the rumours. So it looks like Nigel want to do his business as early as possible
..shame if so as he is definitely a player, at his best, we could do with, but alas if his hearts not in it then it's time to move him on, has to go back to Leeds surely?.... or a newly promoted side?...
Im afraid this was always going to happen, not a LCFC type player for me.. I wil never understand the psyche of some players/people.. why they have the attitude they have who knows?..I have a feeling freud would throw the towel in on some of these overpaid over pampered spoilt little boys...demand fortunes .sign deals, then short change and bite the hand that feeds them..good riddance ..sorry. hopefully we will get a guy who will give a damn...
Im glad he is going and it was always on the cards once Nigel returned. I think the Peterborough incident was the final straw for Nigel and then what happened at Elland Road it just got rid of any doubt in Nigel's mind that Beckford has to go. Yes he is a goalscorer and a very good striker but the negatives outweight the positives of having Beckford in the team.
Don't you think he is the most frustrating player you've ever had in your team? I did, and he is a great goalscorer with lots of pace. Most strikers would love his attributes, and he's going to waste them. He could have been a good premiership striker, but I think he believes he's already made it. I would like him back at Elland Road, but I don't think we can afford him, and I don't think we can afford his sheer unpredictability if we're to mount a promotion push on a relatively tight budget. Who knows where he will start next season.......
Shame if it's true as it would mean us finding another goal scorer in my humble opinion. Wouldn't be surprised if he's loaned out as no championship team will pay his wages, Leeds may get him yet and we will be worse off for it IMO
We've had a few frustrating players over the years...ie Iain Hume, who was the opposite to Beckford. He worked his socks off every game, but in all honesty, wasn't that talented. In the end, was probably glad to see him go, just to put an end to the frustration. Fryatt, was another. A good player, but with glass-like confidence. When he believed himself, brilliant. But for 60-70% of the time, not good enough. I'd say Beckford was up there with those two.
He'll score 20+ in a team that are good at creating chances, im not sure offloading him is a good idea. Best just to sort out his supply problem in midfield over the summer.
