@FourthOfficial_ 1m Good luck to Jermaine Beckford at Bolton, great lad #BWFC @StringerSport 9m @FourthOfficial_ any idea on the fee pal? ‏@FourthOfficial_ 2m @StringerSport heard in the region of 800k with quite a few add ons That should now allow Nigel to go into the transfer market and bring some players in. Beckford was always going to be one of the hardest to shift because of his wages
Jermaine Beckford's finest night in a City shirt He was a panic buy by Sven after he ran out of options and time.
More then 1 pint They paid us 3M to take Mills and Beckford off our hands Didnt they learn from our mistakes
Yup if only we had signed Lonergan hahahaha! On a serious note though re Beckford, this is a result for us. hUGE wages off our books should allow Nige to complete the transfers he no doubt has lined up
I don't think we can assume that because Beckford is off the books that we can go out on a spending spree. If we are still too high on the wages side of FFP, then this changes very little, its a bit more than a drop in the ocean, as he was one of the top earners, but still don't think we are under the wage target for FFP with players like Danns, St Ledger and the improved contracts like Gally and Wellens still on the books. Not to mention the wages of Kasper, Nugent and Konchesky, although they are actually working for their money, they are unlikely to get anywhere near the same amount when their contract renewals come around.
There will be no spending spree. If Nigel finds a player going at a reasonable price then we will spend but there wont be no punts like we did on Jamie Vardy. Loans will be our best option. Now Beckford is off the books that 30K a week off the wage (unless were still covering some) and nearly 1M in the bank. It will allow Nigel to go out and sign a player or 2 We still need Danns, Wellens, Gallagher, St. Lefger and Konchesky off the wage bill asap
In my role as the board's 'Fifth Horseman Of The Apocalypse' I'd just urge a note of caution on the Beckford leaving party celebrations - I feel the guy is very capable of scoring at this level and he could well come back to bite us on the proverbial arse ... if Dougie can get him playing it is well within his capability to notch 20 + ... 'sods law' makes him a shoe-in for first goalscorer when we play them!
If Chris Wood scores 20 would anyone care? Nugent is guaranteed goals aswell and they both bring alot more to the team then Beckford Its not finacially viable to keep Beckford either
He may well do. But he certainly didn't show that with us and he didn't look like he wanted to try and do it either. He had his time and didn't live up to the wage he was earning. Time for him to move on and see if he has the desire to succeed at Bolton. He may well 'come back to bite us on the proverbial arse' but I think if we decided to keep hold of him then FFP would bite harder. If it's true that we have to sell before buying then he would have been at the top of my 'get rid' list.
Beckford is better than any striker you have n ur celebrating selling him haha I can't believe you lot still trust nige
