A good keeper, but has he trained or played at all in the last ten months? He'd be able to keep the defence organised with Verm and Djorou out, and I don't see him ever making a judgement error like in the last minute against Brum. But will his handling still be up to scratch? He's gotten more error prone in the last few years, and almost a year with no professional training is unlikely to have helped that situation...

this guys another calamity waiting to happen lol.

Miles better than the other keepers you have but organising that defence is going to take a super human effort.

plus I would be expecting at least 1 red card leaving you short for a game or 3 which sort of defies the point. Hes a hot head and is very much capable of losing it as he has done in the past.

I'd definitely welcome Mad Jens back. He's only going to be used as cover, but his never say die attitude in the squad is JUST what we need at the moment <ok>

He would be good but like I said, he was always a live wire.

Perhaps thats a good thing aswell.

But training with who? There's a big difference between training on your own or with a lower league club, and full intensity training at the sharp end, especially when you pass the big 40...

Agree. I think Jens would benefit from training with the Arsenal again. He's already familiar with the set up and if his fitness is adequate, then he should slot right in. I don't think he anywhere near being a top keeper (too error prone) but his influence in the squad is just what we need <ok>

Hit the nail on the head there. A huge step up from the 3 you have especially that spanish excuse for a keeper but it would be more for his influence.

take it from us, having a defence thats decimated is very very hard to deal with as you will of seen with United last season. If you get through the patch well you should be very happy indeed.

Jens has been with arsenal for four weeks learning about coaching ect.. so has been keeping in shape too. yes he is a livewire but thats what i liked about him, think our defence needs someone like bbig jens behind them, worried he may punch them if they make a mistake. a blessing in disguise

I think Almunia has done pretty well considering. But he lacks the authority of Mad Jens and to and extent Szczesny, who I think will become a great keeper. I still think we need an established CB, someone like Phillipe Mexes would be a good summer buy. At the moment we have a good (albeit, inexperienced) CB pairing in Koscielny and Djourou, but any whiff of injury (as has happened to Djourou) and we're snookered. Squillaci is too slow imo and Vermaelen still hasn't got a return date.

I can understand that Wenger has not wanted to buy in players at the expense of giving the players he has nurtured a chance, and when they are all fit, we have a great team. But injuries have cost us dear for the last 2-3 seasons, and I think it's time that we have a robust mix of experience, leadership and youth in our squad.

It would certainly get the CB's on their toes, bring back Mad Jens, certainly would feel more comfortable with him in goal then flapper.

Almunia will be pissed if Lehmann came back and kicked him out of number 1

Newcastle fan here in peace. What have you got to lose by bringing Lehmann back? Like someone had previously stated, he could get back into training seamlessly and would give a welcome boost.

It reminds me somewhat when Newcastle brought in Pavel Srnicek a couple seasons ago when we had a keeping crisis and did alright!

All the best for the rest of the season.
