Anyone heard what we paid, i would have thought it must have been minimal considering this guy has been no where near the Spurs first team for ages now and so injury prone?
hopefully not Dyer MkII. Harry will know him well, so must trust in his judgement on this one. Could be a very astute bit of business.
No, you cant loan for more than a year and cant loan 3 players or have 2 from the same club. Even Harry thought it was a loan but it has to be a permanent unless its another classic QPR cock up.
Harry just said in the Press Conf that we paid no fees and only picked up a percentage of their salaries (that's both Jenas and Townsend) - no more than £25K per week for both of them. Sounds like a good deal to me!
I take anything Harold says in a press conference with a big pinch of salt. Press say we signed him on an 18 month contract. Harold says it was a loan. BBC say Samba costs £12.5m plus 100K a week. Harold says it was a lot less than that. Mackie was clearly put up for sale or part exchange but Harold says he wasn't. Harold was not going to spend any more of the owners money. Then in a week, breaks our transfer record twice. Odemingwie made a mistake. Nothing to do with him or us. He probably does not even know nor has ever heard of tapping up. It's as much a cock up as Harold not understanding any tax issues. He says what will please most listeners and gets away with it because it's Harold. The only truth we will ever learn from a press conference is what each of us wants to hear.
I'm sure that it is a permanent 18 month deal. I may be wrong but I don't think loan deals can last for that length of time. No fee has been mentioned as far as I've seen.
We're only allowed two domestic loans and as we already have Fabio on loan, Townsend is the other and Jenas is a buy.
That’s two threads you’ve dug Arry out on. Make’s no sense having a pop at a man who has only done good things for us. I challenge you to find a direct quote posted alongside a reputable link eg sky sports or BBC in which our Arry says that he was not going to “spend anymore of our owners money”. He has always said we need to strengthen and this is exactly what we have done. Not sure how you would do that without spending money. On top of this he has cleared Ferdinand, Dyer, Cisse and even Hulse have been cleared a chunk off the wage bill. Plus Nelsen has left. What Arry has actually said was that the owners had over paid for some players- by this I assume he meant the likes of Park and Bosingwa. I actually think the signing of the Europe wide respected Remy and the signing of Samba who is in so many ways an excellent signing who knows the league are important bits of business. I would rather our approach then Villa’s anyway. And think about it logically now that Mackie is staying what is the benefit of him coming clean and publically stating that he tried to move him on to bring in a better player?! Look forward to your link to Arry’s saying hwe wouldn’t “spend anymore of our owners money” quote to back up your statement. If not you should keep your misinformed opinions to yourself.
I think what Harold said was that he wouldn't spend if we were too far adrift. they obviously decided that 5 points is doable. Agree that his public statements should not be seen as gospel though, he's a game player, but can never resist the opportunity to respond to a question.
My understanding was that it was a permanent signing. Perhaps we have taken him off Spurs' hands for the length of what remained on his contract with them and they are supplementing his wages, hence the confusion?
Thats true, your right. Must be the Friday lunchtime beers that made me a bit less sharp with my memory. On the plus side I went to sandwich shop called "Remy's" round the corner from my office on Fenchurch Street today. Last time i did that was day before the West Spam game... I know who I'm backing again for first goalscorer tomorrow!!
If Remy scores tomorrow mate, you better be eating there before all our remaining games this season! Hope your stomach remains in shape!
