It looks like Jeff Schlupp will be going out on loan next month. Nigel has already said he may buy a new striker and if Jeff goes out on loan that looks more likely that Nigel will sign a striker. If he does go out on loan there wouldnt be many better places then Charlton for him to go with Chris Powell in charge. He may teach Kermorgant a thing or 2 http://www.southlondon-today.co.uk/Sport.cfm?id=47201&headline=Foxes
Yann may teach Jeff a thing or two don't you mean? He's on fire in League One I think its the best for both parties, if he can play week in week out and maybe get 10 goals in the second half of the season then he's gonna be coming back full of confidence
Would be delighted to have him- my main concern being: would Leicester want him to come to CAFC knowing that we have a pretty formidable front two and we couldn't guarantee him a starting place? Don't get me wrong- he sounds excellent and easily good enough to start. But with us he might be in a similar position to what he currently is at LCFC. And kermo has been fantastic- best player in the last 4 games easily
Apparently pretty good, Stu - had a very effective loan spell at Brentford last season with 6 goals in 9 games, but I honestly can't see him upsetting the status quo at the moment.
Good player still only a youngster, scored a hat-trick on his first team debut for us against Rotherham in the Carling Cup. Would be going out on loan because he's probably got more chance of first team football at Charlton at the minute.
Jeff, for me, has all the tools to be a top striker. He has pace, power, finishing ability but just needs to mature and develop that goalscorer's instinct. Maybe would have liked him to go to a Championship club but I hope he does well at Charlton.
Thanks GOG - to be quite honest, unless there's a serious injury to BWP or Kermit, I can't see the partnership being broken up for the rest of the season. Last campaign, he'd have walked into the side. Nice monicker...
Jeffrey Schlupp is hardworking, fast, decent in the air, strong, can finish, acrobatic and can play on the wing. He will be a cracking player with the right management and experience.
I'll be disappointed if he goes out on loan. He's good enough to be an impact sub now, and in time potentially a first teamer. How is it helping his future for us if he goes out on loan to league 1 where he's already proved himself? If we never give him a go we'll never know, all I'm asking for is regular half hours as a sub at first. This will be the same as Gradel, he'll sign for a club below us and he'll be successful, he won't do it here because we are too pussy to have faith in potential, we'd rather stick with formerly proven players but who are on a downward spiral. God forbid we might once have a player to get excited about.
We would love to have Schlupp at Charlton, and maybe he will come because of the Chris Powell connection (assuming they got on well at Leicester). But the reason we would like to have him is as back-up to Bradley Wright-Phillips, our main striker. BWP occupies one of the only two positions in the team where we don't have really good cover (by Div One standards). Schlupp is closer to BWP in style and quality than anyone currently on our books. There is nil chance of Schlupp ousting BWP or Kermorgant from the team on a regular basis. Kermorgant is the Cantona of Div One these days, a quality playmaker and quality striker rolled into one. Plus we also have Paul Hayes who is a good second striker by Div One standards. Given the above, I cannot see it is in Schlupp's best interests to come to us. He could hold down a regular place in most Div One teams and there are some good managers in this division who would help him develop. However if Bradley Wright-Phillips gets a longer-term injury before the loans window shuts (God forbid!) I am sure we would come knocking on your door.
I'd be delighted to get him- but I wonder if a love to us is the best thing for him. We would benefit from having a youngster of his ability, but you can't help but think for his sake he would be better suited to a club where he is near guaranteed to start every game. The selfish side of me wants him. The compassionate side thinks he's better off at another club. That said, good replacement for BWP if he got injured for a few games.
If we sign him, good player that he is, i would feel sorry for Paul Hayes who through no fault of his own will be forth choice!
Yes, I think Hayes has been a bit unlucky and it wouldn't surprise me to see him moving on. We were playing well with him in the team, then Kermorgant fell to Earth from outer space. But Hayes is no replacement for BWP, whereas Schlupp could be. Different sort of player from Hayes.
He wouldn't be a replacement for Hayes/kermo. It's more for BWP. That said, Hayes has been very unlucky. I rate him highly.. But kermo has proved to be the right decision from CP. Hayes appears to have a fantastic attitude though- on twitter he often speaks that it will require hard work to get back in the team and that he's prepared to do it. Great testament to the man.
