Didn't know about that till now. That Mrs Astle would go to the bother of contacting the Club is quite moving.

Not the first time our support has been remarked on this season, or the first time that I've felt proud of our support, but that one means more than the others put together.

Hi bors, the late Jeff Astle was the team trainer for our under-18yo team. A lovely bloke for whom it was never too much trouble to train the lads.

Rest in peace Jeff bor, may this country produce many more like you.

Nice of his missus to thank our fans for remembering his memory; better still our fans didn't mar for her what must have been a very sad day.

I think we are a very respectful set of fans. Theres no need to chant in a minute silence or anything like that.

It's much more fun to embarress the opposition with ingeniously witty chants I find...

my main memory of jeff astle comes from his appalling singing voice at the end of fantasy football with baddiel and skinner <yikes>

most peoples memory of jeff astle comes from that miss in the world cup against the brazilians...

Sorry for my previous post, it was meant to have been deleted and has nothing to do with this thread - apologies.

Funnily enough, Mrs Astle is in the news because she wants compensation from the FA because a coroner said her husband died from brain damage because of the amount of times he headed the ball. Naturally the FA have refused the request.
But of course Dave, when you finally shuffle off this mortal coil, not for a long time I hope, your friends and family will be able to seek compensation from every Scottish distiller!
