http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/villareal-primera-liga-promotion-shoots-4282625 Jonathan de Guzman will almost certainly not be returning to Swansea City after his parent club were promoted.
Now if we can get Pablo to play we'll be fine - hope he goes back to them (JDG) then if we want him next year 1 million
Deal has definitely died, no JDG next year. Not a problem in my view as Ki is at least as good as JDG and he didn't play much of the second half of last season due to a niggling thigh strain. With Ki back fit and with the addition of Canas this news hasn't weakened us at all. Its very frustrating for us fans at this point as we won't know of any possibilities, negotiations or signings until after 30th June due to the board slapping a ban on all media interaction; TV, Radio and print, regarding our transfer targets and strategy.
I'd like to see Ki play in a more advanced position but that may be unlikely as Michu will take that role imo with a new striker up front.
I recon with no more outward going players we need 2 strikers (obvious reasons), 1 midfield, (not top priority but game changer on the bench is simmering we miss) and 1 center back (better cover is needed).
Guys, to be honest I am so fed up with all the rumours about managers and players. If he doesnt sign for us then so be it. He can enjoy his time at Villareal. Every single pesron in the playing squad and management are replaceable. I have no fears that we will replace him with someone as good or better. So as far as I am concerned what will be will be.
He was struggling to get a game at Villa Real when he came to us. Maybe they'll persevere with him when he goes back hoping his time with us will have improved him. I think they paid something like £7 million for him but, for that money, they can keep him. In my book he's worth about £4 million, perhaps a bit more. As I got tired of posting, he's a total liability when we are under pressure and a decent work ethic is vital in the Premier League. Good when we are on the front foot, though.
I agree Ivor he definitely went AWOL in a lot of games - at £4-5M I would sign him but no more than that. This gives the chance for Ki to do a bit more and hopefully for Pablo to make those telling passes he is capable of.
We do need a set piece taker to replace him, I think swan has it right. 2 strikers, midfield and defender. I would add another winger unless ML feels that Lamah or Gorre will step up next season.
Here we go again Liverpool http://hereisthecity.com/2013/06/14/five-days-until-liverpool-get-access-to-dutch-star/
Id be embarrassed if I was a Liverpool fan with their club going after Swansea targets and not Man utd,Spurs,Arsenal and Man city targets. No doubting the size of Liverpool and it will not be anything like a fair race when they enter the equation but if JDG wants to come here then the club need to show they want him, maybe they are already doing that perhaps. Cant blame JDG for going to Liverpool ahead of Swansea though, looks like its up to him now.
I won't miss De Guzman one bit, he was usless on the dirty work, disapeared in games, and some of his tackling was none existant, au revoir JDG!.............................. PS: With a new striker definitly coming, and Michu dropping back into the midfield we won't miss JDG!...................
We cant play Michu Thursday Saturday though can we so good players will be needed. £5m is a decent price and who is to say that JDG doesn't eventully learn the ugly side of the game? truth is that if he is good enough for the Dutch National team ,he is good enough for the Swans
