wondering how people feel about the tone he took ? Regarding his comments I.e "looking forward to a "real" football project " ect ect.....

He was paid an serious amount of doe for basically being part of a team that massively underachieved .... When the prem was formed we were left behind by a combination of board room Bolloks , small ground syndrome and having to compete in west London with at least 4 or 5 teams .

He was part of the so called project he was one of the high earner talisman that we though may drag us through . Who is he to be touting our best forward and at the same time belittle a club that has paid him way over the odds for frankly not much return ? Is he taking the piss or what ? !!

Good riddance! I'm so glad he has been outed by our club. We have been poisoned by his presence since he's been here. We'll now be better off without him.

Quick question? Do you think Barton would sign for United for £15,000 a week or Brentford for £40,000 a week? Purely hypothetical of course.

Possibly, but I think his stock has been considerably lowered.

Former QPR midfielder Joey Barton expressed his desire to sign for a ‘real football project’ after being released by the relegated West London side.
The Hoops endured a season to forget back in England’s top flight, finishing bottom of the Premier League table and returning to the Championship at the first time of asking.
Barton, along with several other senior squad members, was released after the climax to the campaign, and the 23-year-old hinted at a few regrets about his time at Loftus Read.
“I’ve been on record before – I joined QPR from the outset on reasons that I swore I wouldn’t do again,” Barton told Drivetime.

“I just want a real football project and to enjoy my football again. With the manner of the relegation – it was disappointing not go down fighting – I just wanted to get away from it and revaluate things.”
Unlike many other fellow professionals, the former Manchester City and Newcastle midfielder has embarked on a rigorous warm weather training regime rather than going on holiday, and he revealed he has a number of options at his disposal.
“I’ve spoken to a number of teams and there are a few options on the table,” Barton added.

I'm not that fussed - he's never left a club without firing some bitter comments back towards his former employers.

I still have this nagging suspicion that he represents all that's wrong with the club. He put in plenty of effort but the dressing room divisions are, in my opinion, what sunk us most and they don't come more absolutely, outspokenly divisive than Joey.

I'll be surprised if there are any PL clubs in for him, he just isn't good enough at the top level. Plenty of effort and drive but let down by his regular misplaced passes and he just doesn't score enough.

The Championship is his level now and he'd have been a good fit at Leeds but if he's turned down £20k a week he'll be lucky to get a better offer...

I disagree totally. He's still plenty good enough a player for half of the PL. HIs effort and drive made him our best player with Austin by a mile last season, and he will do a similar good job for many in the PL next season. I suspect we let him go because Ramsey and Les saw him as divisive in the dressing room, not bringing as many players as possible together in the team, which with one of your most experienced players, captain or not, is essential.

Joey always gave 100% effort. As was said before he was prone to too many misplaced passes and being caught in possession however it is his misplaced philosophical quotes that has him scoring own goals. I would like to put him in a spacesuit and limit his oxygen so that he can breath but not talk.
I thank you Joey for doing your bit on the pitch and I for one will not slate you when you visit Loftus Road in the future.

I rate the effort, am indifferent to the player and dislike the social skills.
