Decent player actually, couple of mates support Barnsley and they reckon he's been their best player since hammill left.

I'd rather Hobbs, ayala and gerrard but even so, wouldn't be a bad option i guess.

at 6ft 4 he's a big bast*rd. Can he shift? Presume it'll be Ayala Shackell and Chester our 3 CB with Ayala and Pearson's 'brotherly' love for one another. Heard of him, not too much but sounds good from the little knowledge he brings to mind. Hopefully McShane will go the other way :)

That article says Barnsley are trying to cut costs, therefore, I'd guess mcshane won't be going there I'm afraid

Good player, captain material as well - was captain at Norwich and Barnsley I think. Would be a great signing to balance the youth with a bit of leadership and experience.

Don`t know how much there is in this one, but Daily Fail reporting Hobbs as the main target for NP, given our interest in Ayala and Gerrard (none of which will be easy to get hold of), seems one out of the blue for Shacknell, but this seems to fit with NP`s `tell `em nowt til business is done` mentality, which I gotta say is a better way of conducting business then the previous baffoons

If the home game vs Barnsley is anything to go by, I don't like the look of him. Can almost swear he got sent off, but I definitely remember him as being the dirtiest, mouthiest, whinging player on the pitch, out of that incredibly dirty, mouthy, whinging Barnsley team, which really is some achievement. If he plays/acts like that all the time he's gonna spend most his time suspended.... I also seem to remember him conceding a penalty..

His disciplinary record doesn't look bad on paper, he's played 45 games this season, got three yellows and no reds.

Hm, not bad to be honest, in fact thats really quite good... still I remember now then that Shacknell is the one I thought was most deserving to get sent off. There were 3 players I singled out as being dirty and swarming the ref everytime his whistle blew and I do definitely remember Shacknell being the worst of the lot, I can't remember the other 2's names one was the ginger lad and the other one of the fullbacks.

Anyway I thought he looked really shakey against us, a yard off the pace and bringing players down, remember an incident in the first half in the SE corner (because we kicked off the opposite way to normal) where he gave away a stonewall pen but the ref didnt see it. Can also remember Fryatt and McLean giving the the run around with lots of circles and him resorting to a bit of hacking and shirt pulling. I guess though on that day the entire Barnsley team was awful and played just like that, so it's unfair to single one performance out, even though in my opinion he was the worst of the lot. Everyone has their bad days though..
