    The Mirror are reporting that we're planning a £1.5m bid for 24 year old Portsmouth CB and captain Jason Pearce. Guess which part of this makes me sceptical.

    The Mirror and the 1.5m are both plausible reasons for scepticism! So is the guy any good? Haven't heard too much about him... I'm not sure Bates would be willing to spend an inconceivable amount like that on anything other than a world class player! <doh>

    He's a good player and I think Pearson is interested if Mills leaves.

    Nothing against Pearce but I would prefer we spent 1.5 million on Craig Dawson from West Brom. I assume they could use the money to tie down Jonas Olsson.

    Old peacock I also mentioned Dawson in January aswell as Danny Collins but we dont attract good defenders

    LETS FACE IT POMPEY ARE SKINT SO 500K WOULD BE A GOOD OFFER I bet we don,t spend as mich as Huddersfield Town close seasonbut we will get the usual excuses .We will lose Snoddy as well I wouldn,t mind Adam Hamill to replace him Derry will probably replace Brownand Mccartney instead of Kenny we still need someone creative and a centre back but I suppose we will still need them next year!

    I doubt we will spend much on transfers including Pearce, for me it will be freebies on wages only contracts again.

    To be honest I don't mind not paying for players as long as we get the right players in.

    As if we invested in players like Pearce, Dawson or Kilgallon we would be waiting for offers from Premier League clubs in January after they showed their ability.

    We will get proven professionals Warnock knows like "One Size" aka Fitz Hall or Clint Hill.

    I also imagine O'Dea will get another year to prove himself, with Lees pushed out wide to Right Back.

    Frees are fine if you get the right players, but we never do, it's always bargain bucket, players that no other club wants.

    Yeah theres nothing wrong with a free signing if you act early and get the best ones. Last year Danns and Burke were availbale on a free

    Heard the Sol Bamba rumours, but let's be realistic - Even in the unlikely situation where Leicester did want to sell him, I highly doubt they'd only want 500k! 6 months ago they were telling us he's the best centre half in the division
