Jason Denayer is ready to make Sunderland his permanent home.

The 21-year-old defender is keen to lay down some roots after being sent out on loan for the third consecutive season by Manchester City.

Despite Sunderland’s struggles under Davie Moyes Denayer is reported to be happy at the club and commit himself to life in the north-east of England.

A Manchester City insider is reported as saying: “Jason is being kept in the dark over his future at Sunderland, but he likes it up there.

“He is keen to down his permanent roots somewhere. He doesn’t know if they will go in for him just yet though.”

Denayer was sent on loan to Celtic as a 19-year-old and enjoyed an outstanding season playing alongside Virgil van Dijk as the hoops lifted the League Cup as well as the SPFL title.

Celtic were never able to meet City’s £10m asking price for the defender but last season’s loan to Galatasaray was less successful with the defender unable to claim a regular game.

With back-to-back wins over Bournemouth and Hull City things are looking up for Sunderland with Moyes responding to speculation that he could be replaced by the return of Sam Allardyce.

If he can secure a regular place in the Sunderland side Denayer will be hopeful of playing his way into the international thoughts of Roberto Martinez.

Never trust anything from "a source" or "an insider". Most likely absolute bollocks, no way to prove the journo didn't just make it up himself so "a source" is just licence for them to fabricate stories.

Having said that, I'd be happy if we got him on a permanent in summer.

From what I've seen so far, he's not worth that £10m figure IMO.

Looks decent. Think the price is a little steep for us though.

We don,t have much success with Man City 10 m bargain buys. Only interested at half that price, otherwise thanks but no thanks.

I'd go along with that although we haven't seen enough of him to be sure of his value. He's been getting better every game and it remains to be seen how far that goes.

another Man City cast off but at least he knows where he is wanted , and if he puts his head down and gives us some good performances, he could become a crowd favorite in a few years, the grass is always greener on the other side if your a M,C player ,<laugh><laugh><laugh>

If it's come to that mate, we're well ****ed. We've got a piss poor waifer thin squad as it is, if we have to start selling assets then the writing is on the wall.

Who should we sign for £5million ? - If his views are right and wants to remain here I don't think we can pick and choose - plus he is getting better and is premiership quality imo
Perhaps he'll end up over the Tyne next season instead.

Had his best game for us against Hull, much more like it. Continue the season like that, bring a bit more and only then would I favour trying to sign him.

At the moment nowt, I wouldn't sign him. I hate players being valued 6months+ before the transfer. Part of the modern game that really niggles me. The fact teams are committing to these sort of valuations so far ahead of the transfer is a bit scary. Hopefully these's no agreement tied in here so we can bid what we think he's worth if we infact even want him.
