Can anyone remember this match?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkEeJnr2-VA&feature=channel_video_title What a challenge!!
Yeah, I was at that match. That is some challenge by Cousins and a great goal also from Bonny. He was certainly committed to every challenge
Not sure it can be called a great challenge, I remember Martin O'Neill being furious with Cousins a number of times over his reckless tackling!! What a legend though! And fair play for the Doncaster player for not making a meal of it, it was proper football in those days.
mmmm, As much as I liked Jason as a proper team player, he did occasionally throw in an awful challenge, like that one. But I was glad he was on our team. I was at that game, and glad to see Bonny scoring again. He was one of those less famous heroes we had, like McGavin, Steve Thompson, etc. Top lad BTW. I think we used to make more noise in those days? I think it may be bacuase we had the standing area at the other end and along the side. Or is that just nostalgia?
no its not nostalgia it was true the woodlands was very noisy in those days and the new stand has taken all that atmosphere away
Also, the away end was a mirror image of the valley and the away supporters didn't have the advantage of the roof that's there now.
yeah, when you were a mere sperm in your old fellas groin. Shame he didn't have a .......no never mind ......lol
That was a great tackle, I was at that game. And if you watch it it was all because of Jesus Carroll's wing trickery that frustrated the other team and made them slow down, psycho couldn't help what he did, and it wasn't two footed, how could it have been as he was four foot in the air when he did it. A fair tackle ha ha
if psycho didnt get them in them days then ooh terry evans would sort them out ,thats if brownie hadnt flattened them already
Yeah, Martin liked his physical players back then. Mixed in with a bit of class it was the perfect formula. I wonder how many of those players would have seen professional football without MoN. He certainly got the very best out of them. Back then we would never have been pushed about like we were at the home game v Stevenage. We had a much more solid spine to the team. We might have ended up playing with nine men though lol
