At the risk of sparking off a ridiculous rumour thread, here's a piece outlining some fairly obscure options for potential signings next month: http://www.footballfriendsonline.co...-should-be-looking-to-sign-to-help-them.html?
we probably need to fire up a january transfer window sticky JK i'm not familiar with this website, i like the idea of a centre back, possibly as a loan-signing also the guy who would add some steel in the middle given Tettey's injury another striker is wide of the mark though imo
I've been thinking about what positions we should be looking at. I think the current situation shows we could use another good winger. I'd be very tempted by Capel as he knows how to get a ball into ricky. I think we could use an Olsson type player on the right and would fancy putting in a bid for Kyle Naughton. The other position I feel we need is a creative AM however I feel this will be an expensive player and will wait for the summer. The player is love to see is Remy Cabella but I'd imagine he'd want to hold out for someone better than us. I agree we don't need another striker. We have two very talented strikers. RVWs movement is fantastic if we could pick him out and Hooper's ability to poach goals, as seen at palace, is superb. People will say we need a centre back but I'm happy with ryben and Seb with turner and martin as cover. At least until summer.
I would love to see him sign for us, but I fear we would have very stiff competition from clubs with considerably more financial clout than us. Can see him possibly being signed by a wealthy club and loaned back to Derby for a bit.
I can see us doing very little business in January again. I think dependant on the progress made by all our injured players, especially the wingers, we will maybe look for a couple of loan signings. I still think the squad is plenty strong enough to finish mid-table, getting them fit and firing is the key. It is again so tricky to get anyone in who will really add to the team that their existing club will let go. Bah!
I can't see us getting capel, he has been linked with the likes of liverpool. would be nice, but remember what happened in the summer when we tried to go big and buy toby alderweirald and the Quag? I think any priority should be defensive given the amount of goals we are shipping, obviously depending on how injuries are going as mentioned.
If Naughton was available (which I doubt) I'd jump at it, adds so much having decent full backs keeping other teams occupied, I just don't see Rusty as a threat to other teams full backs, but I do rate him highly at centre back.... If a high quality attacking creative midfielder is available it'd be worth the money, but I don't see us spending much like last year, no need to panic, the lift RvW tettey pilks and snoddy coming back will give us can't be under rated
My point of view guys is that in january if you buy anybody they need to be players already playing in the premier league, yes i know there is an extra cost, but you guys can't afford to have players bedding in for a couple of months. A good solid centre half and somebody who can create things from deep. That way you will be alright.
tettey is out until the end of Feb right? that'll leave about 10-12 games. i think we might get someone in to replace him
Depth of R.Martin, Whittaker, Olsson and Naughton could spell the end for Garrido at Carrow Road, eh?
I think JK's article has a decent list of the kind of players City should be looking for. Cuenca can play as a striker or wide in a 4-3-3 and could be a useful addition on loan. I'd like to see another ACM option as well as another CB on loan if Ayala is going to stay with Boro. Given Tettey's injury and BJ's current form, another DM would be useful as well (if I'm not being too greedy!).
I reckon Naughton would be available he's not starting for spurs unless there are injuries and spurs will no doubt be looking to spend some money again.
Not going to beat myself up about losing Garrido, I was always sceptical even when people were praising him, he just seemed to get beaten all to easily. Whittaker is probably better than him at left back all in all, not even sure why he was on the bench at the weekend, waste of a space
Naughton is a RB/CB according to Wiki, but would make sense if Martin is going to be seen as CB/RB in the future. Garrido makes a decent back-up to Olsson at LB.
I can't remember ever seeing Naughton play CB. He has played RB and LB for both us and Spurs with a fair amount of regularity.
