I was hoping we were after Mcallister as his ball-winning skills and drive would give us something extra in midfield. However, I do not think he would qualify as a 'player on the periphery of the Sheffield United squad' as he has started a lot of games for them this season.
Mcallister would be great and so would Ashley Grimes (for Gornell) which is another persistent rumour and quite logical in view of our interest in him last season.
I'm wondering if McAllister is the player who has failed to agree terms with GT. Must be on a good wage at Sheff Utd and wouldn't want to lose too much.
Presumably if he had failed to agree terms he would not have been at the Scunthorpe game as reported. Attending the game is something that a player who is about to sign would do.
