I have heard that the player we have nearly wrapped up is Ronnie Schwartz. We are also interested in Liam Miller a Liverpool forward. He has a terrible goal scoring record.

Kilmarnock had him on loan, he couldn't hold down a first-team place.
2 Goals in 36 games for Killie.

Sounds like he’ll slot in nicely- is he prone to long term injuries as well?

It’d help gel with the rest of the squad <laugh>

I wonder why Schwartz didn't want to come before, has anything changed since then?

He agreed to come wages were sorted but he pulled out at the eleventh hour. For what reason I have no idea.

I wonder where Jonny Williams will go... he clearly can't stay with us having had Bowyer's toys thrown at him!

I have to say Johnny Williams will not be missed. He has been totally ineffective for us this season and last. He is a very nice man but spends a lot of the time injured or sprawled out on the turf. He has scored one goal for us. He is all fur coat and no knickers.

I thought he got his mojo back against Ipswich, first time for ages. I hoped he would kick on, especially after getting his first goal. He's never been the bravest, but in L1 on a low budget you have to make the most of what you've got. Williams seems a fragile character, but while he's under contract he's one of ours

I cannot understand the Williams thing. If he can play well for Wales on an international stage he should be tearing league 1 apart. So what's the problem? He can't be bothered with Charlton? Seems unlikely after a few months. Or is he being aged out of position,? The second seems more likely, , but maybe Bowyer didn't want him, regards him as lazy and has riled Williams to a point where he can't be arsed? Given the incident on Saturday it sounds possible.
Personally, I reckon a fit and motivated Williams would be a huge asset this year. But if we can't get the best out of him, I guess he would find buyers available.

So we could be stuck with Washington, Bogle and Aneke up front? Why not bring Davison back, he can play at this level.

If that's the way it's going to be, then it's time for a new manager.

We are not going up this season unless
    A) We get some better players
    B) We get a better manager (to get more out of the players we have)

To be honest, with this wage cap what is the point of a transfer window in January for the lower leagues?
They might as well scrap it.

If Alfie signs his new contract (unlikely) that would take us up nearer the limit. If he doesn't sign up he would either be sold or sign a pre-contract deal with Celtic, although if Neil Lennon gets the sack they might lose interest. This would follow the Phillips precedent, although we might follow the Lyle Taylor precedent and let his contract run down if Bowyer thinks he can get us promoted. This may happen, especially if Smyth, our only other player with pace, is recalled to QPR.

I'd imagine we'd need to offload a high earner to bring in someone decent. I dunno, maybe Bows is trying to keep a lid on expectations as January looms. I doubt very much another manager could deal better with the salary Cup though, do we may need decent loans. Like last January :emoticon-0138-think

Doughty is not going to sign a new contract with us. Will probably sign a pre contract with Celtic. Ronnie Schwartz will be signing early January.
