Team news “From the last game at Bournemouth we have some uncertainties. We have some uncertainties with Maitland-Niles who has flu. “We should have Koscielny and Montreal back and available for Saturday. Maybe Ozil back, he should be back as well. “Olivier Giroud is one week away.”
On Walcott “I am very attached to Theo because he is intelligent, has integrity, total focus on his job. “I remember he arrived here at 16 and went to the World CUp straight away. “he scored important goal [for Arsenal] in big games. “I regret what happened but he didn’t play enough recently but I thank him and he is always welcome here.”
Latest on Sanchez/Mkhitaryan “It can happen, it can as well not happen. It is as that stage.” Will he play for Arsenal again? Yes. If it doesn’t happen he will play on Saturday.” Will it happen next 24hrs? “Yes it is likely to happen. But any minute things can break down. That’s how the transfer market is. These things are never guaranteed.” On Mkhitaryan coming the other way? “Yes that is my understanding. I like the player.” Will wages be an obstacle? “No, the wages will not be a problem.”
On Aubameyang “No I have nothing to add to that. This kind of thing is better when it’s secret. “You announce it when it’s over the line. Nothing else [other than Sanchez] is close.” Will Auba fit in? “Yes, a character can be very positive or very negative. Overall you look at achievement over career and if he has done well the character has been used in a positive way.”
More transfer updates Will Ozil be here in February? “Yes.” What about Jonny Evans? “I have nothing to add on that.”
So it looks like Mkhitaryan is definitely coming (barring any hitches in the deal) We are definitely in for Aubemeyang. No mention of Malcolm Wilshere deal definitely getting done No plans to sell Ozil.
Some positive noises from Wenger there. Ozil staying. And sounds like Mkhi and Aubameyang rumours have truth to them. Get those deals done and Wilshere sign a new deal and though we will still be short in defence and midfield we will have done some good business.
So with everybody fit and assuming our deals go through we could line up like this. ........................Cech...................... Mustafi.........Koscielny..........Monreal Bellerin....Xhaka...Wilshere...Mkhitaryan ..Ozil...........Lacazette......Aubemeyang
I would probably go 3-5-2 Looking at 1. How well Allergris sides have done with a 352 and 2. How we seem to defend better with a back three I would go.. ................................Cech............................... ............Evans.....Mustafi.....Koscielny............. Bellerin.....Wilshere.....Ramsey......Mkhitarian ...............................Ozil................................... .................Lacazette......Aubameyang..............
Good news about the Miki and Aba rumours. If both go through we should end up a bit stronger as Miki is better than Walcott. Wenger seems to like Miki but his words on Aba are a little iffy. He's not sure.
Cos its alot of money for a position we dont NEED covering. But then - I doubt Giroud will be here next Season in which case this signing will make even more sense.
If there's a chance to sign Aub though, it's one you don't turn down. Proven top quality striker across a number of seasons at Dortmund. Apparently he's been left out of their game tonight so it looks likely that he's on the move
Strong team. I would go with that. Albeit as much as I like Ramsey and Wilshere, it lacks a DM. It's a variation on a 3-4-3, but Lacazette and Aubemeyang up front would be a real handful
I agree it's hard to turn down the chance of getting Aub. His goal scoring record is great and he has the skills to adapt to our style of play. An Aub, Laca and Miki front line could be potentially deadly. Close to an Invincibles level and our best since then.
We said the same about Alexis, Laca and Ozil. How did that turn out. For me with what we have. I would have either: ------------------------Cech-------------------- -Bellerin--Koscielny--Mustafi--Monreal- --------AMN-----Xhaka----Wilshere------- -----------------------Ozil----------------------- --------------PEA----------Laca-------------- Or --------------------Cech-------------------- -----Koscielny--Mustafi----Monreal--- -Bellerin----Xhaka----Jack----Kolasinac ---------------Ozil-------Mhiki---------------- ------------------------PEA----------------------
That's why i said potentially But the real problem we have is midfield, without a good midfield, we won't be able to the best out of any front line we get. It will make a difference but we'll still have the problems we had before which needs to be fixed in the summer.
The Sanchez, Laca, Ozil combo never really got a chance to get off the ground though, either one or two players was out injured or not selected. When they did play though it was a good combo. As much as it stings losing Sanchez and especially to Utd, he wasn't really playing for the team these last few months and you could see that he had one foot out of the door. A front three or two Ozil with Lacazette and Aubemeyang would be great
