the mancs may sniff around because Moyes knows the player, but doubt we would go for him.

then again they was sniffing around Baines as well, don't they need to sort midfield out first.

we could sneak in and get them both :bandit:

£50m is the rumour doing the rounds for Ross Barkley to United! Football has gone mad if it's true!

Sidney Sam, probably linked due to Hyypia being the coach.

Liverpool are pondering a January move for Bayer Leverkusen winger Sidney Sam, according to reports from A Bola.

The German international has been in excellent form this season, helping his side to move into contention for the Bundesliga title.

His consistent displays have caught the eye of Brendan Rodgers, who is known to be on the lookout for forward-thinking additions next month.

The Northern Irishman's side have made an excellent start to the campaign, but the ex-Swansea chief is aware that he may need to sign one or two players to keep their title challenge on track.

A wide-man is a priority, with Sam seen as an ideal solution.

Teenage ace Raheem Sterling is currently in fine form, but Rodgers sees a reliance on such a young player as a potential problem.

A number of sides are interested in the Sam, 25, but Liverpool are hopeful that their relationship with Bayer Leverkusen manager Sami Hyypia - who enjoyed the finest years of his playing career at Anfield - may aid their hopes of sealing a deal.

FC Basel winger Mohamed Salah is another option, with some reports suggesting that a £7m deal is close to completion.

I would take Rakitic in a heartbeat, good player.
Liverpool are ready to strengthen their Premier League title aspirations by making a bid for Seville midfielder Ivan Rakitic.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers sent scouts to watch the Croatia international in the 2-1 victory over Villarreal at the weekend.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham have also been linked with the 25-year-old playmaker but the Premier League leaders aim to nip in before their rivals.

Rakitic has scored seven times in 20 appearances this term and Seville may be forced to sell, despite allowing Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo to join Manchester City in the summer before cashing in on Guy Medel's move to Swansea.

There is a £33million release clause in Rakitic's contract but Seville are reported by the Daily Mail to be willing to allow him to leave for as little as £7million.

"A football player can never say with certainty that he will remain in his club," Rakitic recently told Spanish reporters.

"Such is the nature of our business. I'm in Seville for three years now and in this time many things have changed.

"It is clear that in such a big club people can not be satisfied with average results. If there is no success, if there are no trophies, frustration grows. Everything has changed.

"Before the start of the season we got 13 or 14 new players, so everything has just began to operate. Now we have a good series of results and we are all optimistic."

Rakitic would not speculate about a possible transfer and added: "I can assure you that I'm one hundred percent focused on Sevilla and I only think about our next match."

I'm not entirely sure on Rakitic - he's having a great season but this is the first season he has hit such heights. I'm concerned he could be a one season wonder.

And he's not that much more mobile than Gerrard.

Still wouldn't say no ...

Some decent output for a winger type of player and those are just goals. I would take him but my concern is what we would have to pay.

Might/Most Definitely will get slated for this, but saw on Twitter that Seamus Coleman had a £16m release clause in his contract? Not saying LFC will bid for him, but surely someone will in Jan? Or am I being had on by those rumours?

Who would he go to?

United maybe.

Sidney Sam would be a good signing too.

Judging by rumours (!) we must be looking to strengthen our wide players.

At the moment we have Coutinho, Sterling, Moses, Ibe, Alberto, Henderson, Sturridge, Suarez able to play left or right wing.

Ending January with Coutinho, Sterling, Moses, Salah, Tello... would be much stronger.

Not mad about Tello to be honest, I have seen him play a few times in Spain and he's like the Spanish version of AAron Lennon as in he runs off the pitch with the ball a lot and seem's to lack any sort of footballing brain.

The ship has sailed now so won't happen but, would anyone take Sneijder on loan?

Yes, creativity, does it in the big games, someone who can deliver set pieces. Worry would be the closing down and the pressure and pace we would want to play at. Not sure that is his style?

I wouldn't say it's Gerrards style either <whistle>

9 goals in 47 games for Basel, he's another small, light, young player and we have a few of those. Feel it's another one of those that could work out but also might not.
