QPR owner Tony Fernandes is ready to block a January spending spree – amid doubts over Neil Warnock’s future as manager.

Neil Warnock had wanted £20m to splash out on new signings during the transfer window to help the club climb away from relegation trouble.

But Malaysian business tycoon Fernandes now has reservatons over whether Warnock is the right man to lead QPR, and over his record in the transfer market.

Fernandes gave Warnock the green light to spend big after completing his Rangers takeover with less than two weeks of the summer window left.

Warnock brought in Joey Barton, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Anton Ferdinand as he pulled off a string of dramatic late swoops. But results have been less than impressive.

Rangers have picked up just 17 points and sit one place outside the Premier League drop zone.

They have been dragged into the relegation scrap after an alarming slump of five points from their last 10 games.

And there are now growing doubts at Loftus Road about whether throwing more money at their problems is the solution – and whether Warnock is the right man to spend whatever funds are available.

Instead, he could be told he is only allowed to bring in short-term signings like striker Federico Macheda, who Warnock borrowed from Manchester United this week.

Starsport understands the Rangers board might soften their stance if Warnock suggests a player they think will be more than a short-term fix.

Manchester City outcast Nedum Onuoha, 25, falls into that category.

Warnock flew to Manchester on Tuesday to try and tie up a £4m deal for the defender.

The concerns held by the board over progress under Warnock this season will place a question mark over his long-term future.

Meanwhile, Rangers midfielder Barton will serve a three-match ban after having his appeal against his red card against Norwich dismissed by the FA.

Fair enough, we don't want the squad overloaded with journeymen footballers aged 28+ on big-money 4 year contracts, we've got enough 'experience' in the squad already.

    funny day today
    we have been linked with:
    Alex
Onuoha (So have Wolves and i am sure we can outbid them but we always lose out on good players)
    Samba (but so have Spurs)
    Bridge
    Silvestra
But Defoe has said 'Spurs can win League and he is going to do everything to help' (Funny i thought he would be helping us? Oh dear).
And the Star says that TF wont give NW any money,

    Interesting?

Loan players are absolutely the right thing to do at this stage. The PL is stuffed full of good quality bench-warmers on long term contracts; very few long term deals are concluded in January; and anyway, there is a good possibility we will go down so our medium term needs and budget may change. Given our current situation this just sounds like common sense to me rather than a big deal.
