So who would be on your January shopping list. We need wingers and maybe a centre midfielder if Gelson Fernandes and Michael Johnson leave. Martyn Waghorn will be fit around January and will more then likely get a chance in the first team as a striker. The defence is solid and wont need strengthening. The keeper situation aswell is fine with Schmeichel playing well and Weale back up. Pearson will be backed by the owners more then likely and Nigel will know who he wants. So who would be your targets I would go for Peter Whittingham, Jimmy Kebe, Jordan Rhodes and maybe have another look at Nicky Maynard
When we got promoted from league 1 Pearson was after Simon Cox for most of the summer. He is now available by the sounds of things and now he has money to strengthen he may renew his interest http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11698/7357450/Cox-may-consider-move
These are the 3 top targets for me, some may say Zaha, but i can't see how he will be any different to Gradel imo, and NP didn't really like his style of play. Maynard is still a long shot to leave in January, unless a PL club come in with a considerable offer, i cant see him moving until the summer for nothing. Peter Whittingham and/or Jimmy Kebe for me, remember, its only January, 1 or 2 is prob all we will get.
Maybe we should have a thread "Realistic transfer targets" - Whittingham won't be going anywhere and no one is linked with him, Jordan Rhodes ditto and the same for Maynard. Kebe however is going to leave Reading and is informally linked with practically everyone so there is a shot http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12876/7300136/ We are also linked with Chris Humphrey - dunno anything about him though http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11796/7354011/Chase-on-for-Humphrey I'm glad we are linked with wingers as that is what we need, we have enough players for every position and individually are all good enough for this level so unless we get someone of real quality or if someone goes, I don't see us getting anyone else in any other position.
They are realistic except maybe Maynard. No one thought people like Mills, Beckford, Fernandes was realistic but we got them. We don't have the same pulling power we had with Sven but we can still attract good players If you don't ask you don't get
I think we should revert to a 4-2-3-1 formation after Jan. Kasper Pelts Mills Bamba Konch Wellens Fernandes Winger King Winger Nugent Bench: Keeper, SSL, Johnson, Striker, Beckford.
Cherno Samba used to be a cracking buy on Champ Manager 96. Millwall wonder kid wonder kid: i wonder where he is now EDIT: He is on trial at mansfield town after failing to secure a contract with Alfreton Town FC. How could the game be so wrong!
Not a bad shout but I'd have Gally as one of those wingers or at the very least on the bench. A new striker would bring some decent comp for beckford and just might give him a little kick up the arse.
Martyn's Waghorn will be back. I would look at getting another striker aswell and loan out Jeff Schlupp. He would do better playing every week rather then being on the bench for us here and there
I'd be happy if waggy is back and playing well, especially as he is a fans favourite. I saw simon cox mentioned. If Pearson does bring another striker in then that may well signal the end for howard or vassell. A top winger should be the main priority though. One thing is that i'd want a proven championship winger rather than a loan from the prem who doesn't know the league
I can't see Howard going as he offers something different and Vassell is out for the season and probaly doesn't have a future anyway. He only played because he was Svens favourite Schlupp may go out on loan
