Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins vows to freshen up his squad with 'one or two new faces' SWANSEA chairman Huw Jenkins has promised supporters there will be no rash decisions in the January transfer market. By Andrew Gwilym / Published 7th January 2016 please log in to view this image please log in to view this image THE BOSS: Jenkins wants 'one or two' new faces Jenkins is continuing to search for a successor to Garry Monk, who was sacked a month ago, while also working hard to strengthen a squad flirting with the relegation. With no full-time manager in place – caretaker Alan Curtis is close to being asked to remain in charge for the rest of the season – Jenkins is playing a big role in identifying and pursuing transfer targets. A striker is a priority for the goal-shy Swans. Only bottom club Aston Villa have scored fewer goals than the Welsh club and the likes of Charlie Austin and Patrick Bamford are on Swansea's radar. But Jenkins insists Swansea’s precarious league position will not prompt him to move quickly, and he will take his time to make sure he gets “one or two new faces” in at the Liberty Stadium. “You cannot guarantee anything in this window, but the ideal scenario is that or two new players will come in” Huw Jenkins “We are hoping to freshen things up with one or two new faces,” said Jenkins. “I think we all realise that getting one or two new faces in January will be a good thing. “If we can do it then that would give everyone a lift for the rest of the season. But January is always a tough window and sometimes you just have to hang on in there and wait for the right deal to come up. “You cannot guarantee anything in this window, but the ideal scenario is that or two new players will come in.”

To come away a goal up was everything we wanted really," he added. “It shows what we are capable of. If you look at our position in the table as a club it hurts us because we are better than that. We have the self-belief we can do much better and I think this performance shows that."
FFS why are we only linked with strikers under 23 years of age?I'd bring Joe back in a heartbeat though.
Shelvey , Gomis and Ayew out , purely for the cash and I don't think we're any weaker . Makes me grin a bit seeing our 14 million pound bid turned down for Gabbiadini on the heels of Jenkins's speech about spending 11million for Bony a few years ago as not being "The Swansea Way " . I'd be looking for a striker but holding off till the last week of the window to see how things pan out with the possible Gomis departure and how Eder does on his return
I disagree. We have a decent midfield. It's a striker we need, though the way we're servicing the front men we could have Aguero and wouldn't score.
I would like a striker and Joe back, Joe was always wasted at Liverpool, time to bring him home Huw............
We may get a couple of kids in on loan and I feel that will be it for us, Just cant see us parting with any money and will need to save it for next season anyway.
Well there's no manager coming in, so lets hope Huw is a bit more enterprising on the Striker front...........
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-united-fc-hope-agree-10709064 Shelvey out £10M???!? If so I hope we can get Joe Allen for a cut price snap him up, he always gave 100%
Allen would be better coming in the summer and not what we need now . One simple striker is the most I'd bring in and then sell like hell .....Ayew , Shelvey , Gomis ....30 million we would get and have to give Ayew and Gomis maybe 12 million of it .
