I've just looked at our fixtures in January and it's a tough old month ! We face A Orient 1/1/14 H Watford (Cup) 4/1/14 A Bradford 11/1/14 H MK Dons 18/1/14 A Wolves 25/1/14 A Brentford 28/1/14 On current form I cant see us getting much more than 1 point from these 5 league games and if that happens then we are as good as down I reckon
There are 2 important home games before that - both winnable. Hopefully the side will be strengthened in the window. It is a tough month for us in terms of fixtures though!!
A little while ago, there was optimism that we had 7 games at home out of 10. Yes, we did win in the Cup and against Crawley, but we are still bottom of the league and drew too many where we could have won. In comparison to what we have played recently, those fixtures look pretty scary, but we did give Orient a good game as we did Wolves earlier in the season. We have 16 points from 21. We need a minimum 34 from 25. That's about mid table form. Not impossible, but we need a big improvement and fast.
This better form had better come quick because we are in serious trouble if we don't start winning. The transfer window is soon upon us and we all know that any potential new players will probably not have an immediate effect, but we can always hope I suppose. Where is the leadership we so urgently need to get us out of trouble, either on or off the pitch?
Why even ask? We simply don't have the money to buy, and Lansdown can happily sit back and say that his hands are tied because we're now under Financial Fair Play. I had wanted this season to be a write-off so we can build on a foundation of solid players, and wait for our academy to produce some of the future stars we supposedly have on our books. Given our poor run of form I'd quite like to see us sell a few stragglers, sign a few consistent players at this level, and to start promoting the youngsters sooner, rather than later. I'd love to see Williams, Wynter, Reid, Bryan, Burns, and Jordan starting matches.
Well Angelic 2 home games precede this, Walsall and Stevenage which levels it a bit 3 at H and 4 Away that's 7 games, just done a quick look at current bottom 10 teams.... there are 12 fixtures which will result in teams dropping 2 or 3 points and city involved in just 1 v Stevenage who are involved in 4 of them! Oldham and Sheff in 3...... BUT ANY PATTERN IS VAGUE to work with, it is a case of OH SH**E. .GET ON WITH IT, FROM YOUR HIGHLIGHTED GAMES WE NEED a minimum of 8 points and after 28 games played need to be on 28 points or more any less then I put £500 on us getting relegated..............
Boxing Day, a good day almost, only 3 of the bottm 10 got 3 points and 5 got nil points, unfortunately Gills drop down as Colchester move up poor old Stevenage should they lose against us...have then got Gills Oldham and Notts
1 WIN 3 DRAWS or 6points from next 4 imperative any less and I am afraid we are going to have a bad year again
