It may be a bit early (although I've already seen at least five houses in Bexleyheath with their Christmas decorations up!), but I'm starting to wonder how the January transfer window is going to affect us, and more specifically, who will leave. Powell has done an amazing job at putting together a nice young squad that seem for the most part to have clicked, but I do wonder if any bigger boys are going to come in and ruin the party for us. I'd hope that our players could only be tempted to leave for a Premiership or Premiership pushing Championship clubs, because it's inevitable that our great start to the campaign will start the buzzards circling. BWP is a particular worry for us, as I feel he would leave the biggest hole in our team if he were to go. Do you think we offer enough to retain players like this?
if we're still top by then, then you'd hope the players would look at it as though that 6 months later they'll be at the same level as the clubs coming in for them. i just hope we get rid of some deadwood - doherty, francis, benson to free up some wages for one more decent player
I think you will see Benson and Francis leave in the window.I can see us bringing in a couple of players maybe another striker and a centre half.I also would'nt be surprised if Cort's deal was made permanent. I thought another club would have taken a punt on Benson on loan.
I believe that clubs such as Bradford wanted to take Benson On-Loan, but a settlement over wages could not be agreed. Would love to see Francis and Docherty go (as we got Cedric Evina and Yaddo Mambo). No point having him, but Benson did score goals for us last season, in a very bad team. Think it could be worth having him around for all of the cup matches. We really don't want to risk Bradley Wright-Phillips and Yann Kermorgant getting injured in some FA Cup match, which we won't win anyway (though I am hoping for a big team in the third round which we'd get a bit of money for). Get Benson on and a couple of our youngsters, and give them some first team exposure.
Agreed. I thought it could be his time this year after signing Green, and the Welling game looked a promising sign of things to come. I'd like to see him make a few sub appearances to see if he responds to falling down the pecking order.
Green is the sort of player who improves by playing, to drop him to the subs bench would just lose the confidence he has started to gain over the last three games. If he could score against a poor Preston defence he could easily go on to get 6 goals in next 10 games.
Depends if we bring anyone in (which i doubt as Mr Slater admit last season he thinks prices are inflates in Jan) Seeing Mambo is on loan @ Ebbsfleet till the new year I cant see him coming back any time soon, all three mentioned about going i can see making appearances against Halifax

That wasn't what I was getting at, but can see how it could be read different ways. I thought it could be Benson's year after signing Green, seeing as we were reuniting an old partnership that worked well at Daggers. When Benson scored courtesy of a Green cross at Welling, I thought this could be the sign of things to come.
