Evening fellow canaries. Now after PL comments recently about how January could determine our destiny this season and he will do all he can in the transfer market to keep us here for the long haul, i was wondering what your thoughts would be on where and who he could bring in to "Give the lads a hand" as he puts it! First of all, as he has already stated it has been talked about and plans are already under way for this stage of the season so do you think he may of kept the bulk of his transfer budget for this window due to the fact of him stating that prices do inflate quite alarmingly in january and is looking to get that top notch player(s) who could determine our fate!? Now of my belief, there are probeberbly 3 maybe 4 signings that may need to be made to help/improve the squad and these are who or where i think we need to make those signings. 1st Number one priority is to tie kyle here on a permanent contract... Now of my understanding his contract is up in the summer and harry could be looking to offload. PL and DM need to try there upmost to get him here full time. 2nd Maybe an old head could help at the back after all, im not sure who but im more than happy with barnett and martin but could that knowledge help for that last push of the season. 3rd With our current formation using 2 VERY GOOD wingers maybe a 3rd could be a good bit of business. I know we have surman but to be honest he is no winger and if we carry on the same formation and dont want to change or try and disrupt it then maybe a 3rd winger could do us good, personally i would like to see sean scanell here, i think he's another player with bags of pace and talent and certainly in the young and hungry bracket. 4th Jordan Rhodes! He is a man on a mission and is going to be a future star in the premiership, would like to think he will start that off with us... Now this is just my opinion but would like to hear your views on what could be a very important time in january! OTBC
I think Jordan Rhodes would be a very good bit of business, could make the difference like Ashton did all those years ago. I'm still not convinced on the options we have at CB. For me, Whitbread gets injured too often, Ayala is still very young and Ward not good enough. I agree on Naughton.
I agree with Naughton and, possibly Rhodes, if price and wages are right, but I don't think we'll go for the 'old head,' young and hungry is the Paul Lambert way
I know and can understand, maybe the know how of just PL himself could be that old head As for rhodes, rumour was that fergie sent scholes to watch him and are preparing a move for him. I would hate to see him go there and ruin his career when he could make a premiership career at the mighty norwich! but at the end of the day if you had a choice between utd and us who would you choose?? Depends if he has his head screwed on properly!
I think, more than that, it depends on whether he wants to play first team football in the Premier League, not just in the league cup!
Pretty much agree with all of that. Some ezperience at the back, another hungry young winger and a striker I think we have enough in the middle of the park in terms of quality If not Rhodes, someone else who can score the goals. What about nicky Maynard? Brizzle are doing pants so he may want out
More like bloody starving mate. Ps oh wonderful leader. I am considerably younger than you ....even if I don't feel/look it.
Looking at the squad- these would be my priorities (again, this is just my opinion) 1) I totally agree with you about NAUGHTON! 2) I totally agree with you about a winger- if Bennett or Pilkington are injured we might have to face a change in system to compensate for Surman or Hoolahan's tendency to drift inside. (hate to say it, but it would then probably be time for Lappin to go) 3) I think we need a quality Attacking Midfielder to cover Hoolahan. Again, if Hoolahan was injured we would have to change we would lose the option of playing one player behind the striker/s (unless Jackson plays out of position). 4) I'm probably only thinking it because of the Blackburn game, but maybe a GK would be helpful to provide competition and allow Rudd to go on loan and get some experience? I've not seen him play at all, but Jordan Rhodes does sound exciting. However, do we really need another striker to compete with Holt, Morrison, Vaughan, Jackson and Martin (and Wilbraham). With the exception of Wilbraham I think we have plenty of quality and options in that list.
There's only one player for AM and that's Adam lallana but we ain't got a hope of getting him! As for nicky maynard, yes he is a good striker but he is certainly not in form and could that have an affect were he to come to us? Plus brizzle would just want way to much for him I think.
