We are also linked with 26yo German RB Marvin Plattenhardt from Hertha Berlin - someone mentioned before that we are missing a free kick specialist and he is one.[/QUOTE] Maddison is a free kick specialist.
Having a specialist left and right footed free kick takers would work well for us if that is the case and having a younger version of Fuchs would fit the bill. We are being linked with Jack Wilshire who wants to leave Arsenal.
Maddison is a #10 while Wilshire is a CM. Would be good to have someone else that can create chances from deep like Drinkwater during our Premier League winning season but with his injury record, would be a risk.
Suspect the majority of clubs will be. I don't think our medical team have time to deal with Wilshire and James
Here’s an interesting one, George Hirst of a Sheff Weds, son of David, we had bids rejected by Wednesday last year and he has signed for Leuven on a free. A lot of feeling that it’s a way for him to move on to us without having to pay Wednesday compensation. Bet he’ll join us before long. It’s a bit funny as it’s Wednesday and they’ve been freezing him out from playing as he didn’t want to sign a new contract but the principle bothers me that bigger teams could do this to screw smaller clubs over
George Hirst who plays for Sheffield Wednesday who we have been after for a year or 2 has today signed for OH Leuven on a bosman. There is no compensation to be paid as he has moved abroad Obviously OH Leuven is the Vichai and Top’s other club managed by Nigel Pearson. Elliott Moore signed a new contract the other day and went back to Leuven on loan for next season I suspect George Hirst is basically a Leicester player on loan at Leuven. In a year or 2 we will sign him on a fre... sorry i mean undisclosed deal from Leuven
Apparently it is more on him then us - he wanted out of Sheffield Wednesday asap and since his dad's best mate is Nigel Pearson, had no qualms going to OH Leuven directly which would have been where we'd most likely have sent him anyway. Is linked with Man Utd as well so is his chance to impress them as well.
According to reports in Turkey we are no longer interested in him after his performances at the World cup
We are linked with 25yo Montpellier LB Jérôme Roussillon - the number of LBs that we are linked with kinda indicates that Puel doesn't really rate Chilwell and Fuchs.
Is good that the LBs we are linked with all are fast, young and technically sound - could be that Puel is planning on playing with 3 at the back with marauding full backs.
If we are looking at 3 at the back, i don't actually mind keeping Chilwell, makes mistakes at the back but has got the engine to run the wing, LWB would suit him alot better than LB. Maybe with Plattenhardt and Roussillon, we are looking for guys that can provide more assists/goals, like an Alonso type. Iborra back to Sevilla is a rumour on Sky Sports, someone said he isn't settling well and wants to return. I actually think he'd work great next season pinging balls to wingbacks if we are going 3 at the back, so wouldn't want him to leave tbh.
Rumours are that we are losing the race for 2 of our targets - Spurs have had a £23M bid accepted for striker Alassane Plea and Southampton have had a bid of £16M accepted for Mohamed Elyounoussi.
