The Ghanaians always said he was a CB, not sure why we persisted with him at fullback for so long. Seems like adequate cover for a back 3, recovering from a 2 year spell out, you'd think hes not demanding to play every week. please log in to view this image
Makes sense - was on around £80k a week putting him above the majority of our current first team players and no team was willing to match that.
That was one almighty expensive mistake! Not as bad as the Slimani one though. Combined transfer fees of £50 million plus wages! Gulp!
Yes, but in perspective ... transfer fees (net profit) for Mahrez, Drinkwarer, Maguire and Chilwell ...
The amazing thing with Silva is that - if we weren’t 14 seconds too late - I’m sure he would probably have been great for us and still a key player now. Strange how much scenarios affect things isn’t it
Fofana sounds very promising. Wonder if we’ll bring any more in now and in what position Rodgers might still be looking for. Another attacking midfielder/wide forward wouldn’t go amiss
Loves a tackle and seems to time them incredibly well from YouTube footage ... very quick for a centre back ...
Sounds like our old Big Wes. Well, maybe apart from the bit about him being very quick. And maybe also the bit about good timing. Otherwise like two peas in a pod.
Take a look at the footage... he's a beast of a physical specimen for 19 and looks even quicker than Justin and Castagne ...
Big Wes was actually very fast! https://orangefootballclub.com/en/articles/the-three-fastest-african-players-revealed/
That's unfair - during our title winning season he was the fastest CB in the league - and just behind Bellerin as fastest defender overall I believe and the amount of perfectly timed last ditch tackles he made must have been close to triple figures.
Slavan Bilic has publicly stated his interest in signing Slimani - reports are that we would let him go on a free as long as we don't have to cover any of his wages. Leeds are interested in signing Gray - issue is that he is on double their top earner here.
Adrian Silva has signed a permanent deal with Sampdoria. Unfortunately a move which has just never worked out, which you have to wonder if the transfer had gone through on time, would it have been different. I've always felt a bit sorry for him with the way it all happened and has turned out. Pleased he's a permanent deal with a decent club.
According to sky Rachid Ghezzal is in Istanbul undergoing a medical ahead of a season-long loan at Besiktas. #lcfc
