Good for us to start with, then didn't give a **** towards the end and jumped ship at the first opportunity. Watford was hardly a dazzling career move for him. Never been to SJP when he's been back with Watford, but I doubt he got a hero's welcome. Another Distin.
I can't believe people are criticising someone for a lack of loyalty to our club. We have been the ****test run club for about 10 years now in terms of giving a **** about the actual football. I don't have anything against Janmaat or anyone else in this time period. NUFC is just a cattle market like most clubs, and the only difference is, its a really cheap ass one. He stayed at Watford 4 years, pretty loyal in this day and age. At the time of his departure this club was a shambles.
Under that logic, one has to ask why he bothered to come to us in the first place then? It was hardly unknown that the club was a farce under Ashley.
Financial reward, wanted to play in England and we were the only ones interested. Probably didn't think it could be as much of a shambles as it was. It's only when you are truly in the midst of ****, that you get the full tang. I'm not saying he's a club legend by the way, just that labelling him disloyal is hilarious.
Hope he ****ing rots in some lower league somewhere. Pretty sure he nailed his colours to the mast when we went down then ****ed off when the bright lights of Watford appeared on the horizon. Not even worth a thread to be honest, ****ing nomark that he is!
I don't get the criticism of players moving when a club gets relegated. There were periods when he was poor for us in the relegation season but so was the vast majority of the squad. People move jobs
I agree with this. Clubs rarely show players any loyalty these days, but expect loyalty back. Same goes for managers and coaching staff. They can be booted in the blink of an eye. When teams are relegated you can't blame those who want out. The fact that at that time Janmaat saw Watford as a step up from Newcastle says as much about the state of our club as it does about his loyalty. He was OK. Nothing special but OK.
