Captaincy is up for grabs for me. Personally I believe Colo has just been given it time and time again to incentivise staying, which should never be what it's about. He's had his head all over the place for several seasons and tried to leave more than once... Why should he be designated leader?!

Janmaat would be a decent choice

Janmaat would be a great choice as captain. Apart from a couple of stupid decisions that did/could have got him sent off, he was the stand out player last year. Apart from his obvious ability though he seems to know how to connect with the fans and how to show the right attitude. He will play far more games than Collo next season so I think it's time to hand the armband across.

Another yes from me. Shows passion and pride and was way ahead of anyone else last year.

A good choice, which will also put to bed any questions about him moving on (hopefully)...

I think he deserves it personally. Leagues ahead of everyone else.

Have to say I think Janmaat is good egg but I'd be hesitant about giving him the captaincy. That's just me being a bit old fashioned though and liking someone who is committed to us long term. We are just a stepping stone for the foreign lads. However the former are few and far between. I also still think centre back is the position for your captain. Should be an organiser and they can see the whole game. Either that or a holding midfielder.

On an unrelated matter, I am going to be very disappointed if we don't start playing Abeid regularly.

We are a stepping stone for anyone who isn't named Ameobi, and now apparently for someone who is.

As for having a right back as captain, Bobby Moore did OK

Moore was a centre back. He may have started as a wing half (very similar to Janmaat in his best position), but found all of his fame and leadership at centre back. I wouldn't argue against other positions for captains, there have been plenty good ones who have been strikers, full backs etc. I just think it works best when you have a that leader in the centre back role. If they are not captain, they need to be captain material, have that leadership quality.

Yeah we are a stepping stone for most. However if you invest in a solid core of home based players as Mourinho, SAF etc have done, they are far more likely to remain loyal. Obviously even more so if they come through your system. You only have to look at the German sides for evidence of that.

The issue is we don't pay, and being brutally honest, there are very few characters/leaders in our home based pool. We seem to have forgotten all about this and its one of the reasons we struggle. I watched our 21's and aside from the lack of quality, we massively missed any sort of leader. They were lost on the pitch, no one was managing the game.

We all need Armbands, to stop us from drowning in this utter sea of dogshite. Why should the captain be the only one to effing survive???
