Right with the expenditure that LJ has spent would you give him the funds,or would you want to give it to a new manager. Personally not rated his signings apart from Maggs. Don't see us winning any games in January,so in my opinion he should be sacked at this point. So where does SL go from here. This was his appointment,as the main money man,it will be him that makes the decision to sack him. For me this is a job to soon for LJ. He should have earnt his stripes at a lower league club. He had done nothing to warrant the job. SL should have gone with a proven experienced manager to go along with the revamped Ashton Gate. Big decisions to be made by the main beneficiary.
Something needs to happen pretty swiftly or we will staring at league one. I think LJ is here for the long term as sacking him would reflect badly on SL and I think he is too stubborn to make the change. I love the build up to games the pre match atmosphere, fantastic seats and view but when the game kicks off I descend into a comatose state of boredom as it is all so predictable. Our transfer policy does not allow us to recruit a top name manager as they would undoubtedly want to spend significant sums to achieve the Premiership dream.
When you think about it RR how on earth can SL sack Lee after giving him a contract extension? It would make him look even more foolish in the eyes of the supporters and given his poor decision making in the managerial appointment department I cannot even begin to imagine how he can save face this time. The whole situation smacks of SL not wanting to hire someone who might bite back when a yes man fits his criteria much better. I believe it's all about control from him and the thought of having a manager in place who might tell him some home truths just scares the bejeebers out of him and that's a situation I can't for the life of me understand. Wouldn't you think he would go out and find the best person for the job, and if that person were capable of taking us higher, sit back and enjoy the admiration of City supporters basking in the glory of his astute appointment. Instead we have to put up with this seemingly annual event of criticising yet another poor appointment on his behalf whilst he smirks that he is the one who knows better than all others. I know the stadium upgrade has almost been completed, with one little corner needing the final touch, and that is all credit to Steve Lansdown and his money and yet here we probably go again bargain hunting in the basement of managerial opportunity. If the obvious doesn't happen, or we don't turn our fortunes around in the next week or so, then belief in our owner will disappear down the toilet faster than you can imagine, however I have my doubts whether he will react anytime soon to what is fast becoming a crisis. It's just the way he goes about his football manager business.
I think the Steve Cotterill scenario was a clash between Lansdown and Cotterill with SC speaking his mind and getting the boot, same with Coppell. You could be spot on with the fact SL is wanting a puppet, hence having the guy between him and LJ. I really do wonder where SL wishes to take this football club, he requires a experienced and qualified manager to take it to the next level.Until then we can keep bummbleing along between league 1 and the championship.
Time alone will tell RR but I would suspect that as it hasn't happened yet the chances of it get even more remote as time, and more managers, go by the wayside. I would have thought by that he would be aware that you become more successful by the quality, and not quantity, of top staff that you hire. I find it a strange situation to get my head around and just wish for once he would see the errors of his current ways, but yet again I won't hold my breath. Given the tolerance of his followers I like to think he has their interests deeply in his heart and yet I wonder if that's true sometimes.
