Sunderland midfielder Jan Kirchhoff has emerged as a transfer target for Turkish giants Galatasaray - according to sources close to turkish-football.com.

Kirchhoff’s contract with Sunderland is set to expire at the end of this season and it is unlikely he will be offered a new deal, given his torrid injury record.

Nonetheless, sources at turkish-football.com suggest the 26-year-old is high on Galatasaray manager Igor Tudor’s wishlist, as he looks to find a younger replacement for Nigel de Jong.

The 34-year-old Dutchman is set to leave Istanbul in the summer, and Tudor is thought to be keen to bring in Kirchhoff on a free transfer.

Kirchhoff is out for the best part of the rest of the season and there is a possibility he has already played his last game for the Black Cats.
The former Germany under-21 international is one of 10 players who could leave the Black Cats for free this summer, as they look likely to be relegated to the Championship.

Ill be sad to see him go but i cant see how we can justify paying his wages when hes never fit.

Sad isn't it! Him and M'Villa are probably the best 2 centre mids we've had at the club in my lifetime!

Yeah, Kirchoff and M'Villa weren't a patch on the dominant Jeff Whitley and Carl Robinson.

Ah the fantastic array of midfielders we've had down the years, a midfield of Tom Peeter and Arnau Riera would have mesmerized many a team.

Riera should have done. He was absolute class. Magic left foot. It was a mistake by Keane not to perservere with him.

The fact he ended up at Falkirk after us suggests otherwise to me.

He ran the game in his only full appearance for us away to Southend. The entire of the away section was singing his name. I think 83 posted an article on here about him a while back. He had major confidence issues and got very disheartened by Keane not being interested in him and he ended up feeling comfortable at Falkirk. He may not have had the temperament but in pure technical ability he was fantastic.

I would think Martin Bain will get £10 mil for him. Plus appearance money obviously.

Always the risk with an injury prone player - hence the reason we only gave him 18 month contract.

Instrumental in the run in last season under big Sam though.
