Obviously misses the area what with Reading only being up the road from us. Sky Sports understands Reading are in talks to sign Nottingham Forest forward Jamie Mackie in a possible double deal with Simon Cox.
That dont look right..SWP is an R...needs our support but so far apart from glimpses has not done it over a sustained period and I expected so much more!
Me too. Mackie had a -50% relegation clause in his contract on £28,000 a week. SWP didn't whilst on £65,000 a week. That's what caused a lot of the problems in the dressing room.
Mackie for me, it's all about heart... Both run down dead end alleys but at least Mackie was pissed with himself when he did...
Is this another deal Stuart Pearce knows about? They just sold Lascelles and Darlow behind his back...
Absolutely..I always feel SWP tries....which makes the whole thing so sad....and prevents me from being too angry... I just cannot believe someone who plays his trade as a pro footballer can be so inept. Bosw**ka...was a classy player, who didn't care and was so arrogant....dispise him
Mackie but if SWP ever regained his proper form then switch that Looking like SWP may never be the same player again Money shouldn't have anything to do with it IMO
Best of luck to Jamie Mackie Despite his limits as a player, he gave it everything and you can't fault him for that. Scored some very important goals for us, I'll certainly never forget the winner vs Liverpool or the goal against Man City away.
What I loved about Mackie, though, is that these weren't dead end alleys to him. He didn't know the meaning of can't. He would still charge at players anyway and let them try to stop him. Often, somehow, the ball would get through. This is the mentality more of our players and our manager should have. Let the other team try and do the work, let them try and defend. Don't fill your mind with "oooo, maybe we can't get past them, it'll be difficult, let's play it safe." Fill your mind with "right, you're gonna have to defend against me because here I come!" Basically, apply pressure and let them make mistakes.
