I'd assume he is waiting to see what league we are in. If we go, he'll sign. If we don't, less likely. Seems like a sensible tactic to me.
Bruce said last week that they didn't want him concerning himself with such matters with just a handful of games to go, so talks were suspended until the summer.
I understand that, but is it only me who thinks he'll leave no matter what. To an Everton or Newcastle?
Great prospect for the future. There's already many teams after him in the Premier League. Didn't Villa put a ridiculous £1.5 million bid in January for him? I think it definitely depends on what League we're in, but I think he may probably stay even if we stay down. So long as we improve his wages, he'll be content.
No it just seems logical considering that he comes across as a player who doesn't seem to be all about money. Obviously he's going to want improved wages next year (should he sign) since as in he's currently one of the lowest earners at the Club. I think the positivity he shows and the character in his interviews show he's happy here.
Definitely. There can sometimes be professionals who act upon morals rather than economic greed however. Very rare mind..
I'm pretty much certain there's no deal done, if we don't go up, then I think we'll get offers, but unless they're big ones, Assem will ignore them. He has a year to go, we want him to stay, we might well get promoted, I see no reason to be concerned.
Shame that it looks like being the best part of 8 weeks out but dont rush it and Get well soon Chezza.
What a strange decision to bump an ancient thread like this, when there's already a recent and relevant thread about Chester being injured.
