I can see this being realistic as he would fit our recruitment policy perfectly.

    http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-wire/claims-newcastle-outbid-arsenal-jamaal-lascelles/

It is reported that Newcastle United have outbid Arsenal in the chase for Jamaal Lascelles.

The 20 year old defender has been offered a new contract by Nottingham Forest but Arsenal have a longstanding interest in the player and are believed to have offered £3m, with the possibility of the player being loaned back for the rest of the season.

However, the Mail have reported that Newcastle have allegedly made a higher offer than Arsenal for Jamaal Lascelles and so the young defender has three options on the table.

Lascelles has started 12 Championship matches this season and picked up 4 yellow cards in the process.

Having appeared for both England under 19s and 20s, Lascelles also scored the first senior goal of his career in the league cup against Millwall this season.

Forest are currently fifth and so will be desperate to hold on to one of their up and coming stars, at the very least until the end of the season, to give them the best chance of getting back into the Premier League this time around.

If it had been any other club, I'd have laughed it off as ludicrous that we would make a higher offer, but that is a proper battle of the skinflints. I bet the bids go up in pennies.

Wenger counts the pennies very carefully never mind Sir John "Chips" Keswick. Wonder if he's any relation to ACS.

nothing against the lad, but I can sense that feeling of being underwhelmed coming on if he did sign.

The last full back we signed from Forest didn't get off to a good start but stuck in and won the fans over eventually.

Excellent news, bringing in a young, talented full back to cover/learn from Debuchy. Not solving a pressing issue, but a superb move.

Always gave his all and wasn't a bad player. I liked Perch, sad we let him go and still kept certain bottom feeding bastards at our club.

Get them young before the hype and develop them carefully under much less pressure than an older, established player. Look at Haidara as an example, an incredible talent in my eyes under no pressure to be a regular due to his young age slowly being introduced into the team after a bedding in period. Good move I say!

It depends - two are obvious but there is one more that some people want to be given more time to develop - I am not one of these people.

    Now it's more interesting.

    Hmmm,

    Campbell?
    Sammy?
    Vuckic?

Bottom feeder applies to Obertan and Shola, surely. Sammy's probably the contentious one, but not sure he's a BF.

Correct on those two and Sammy - and yes you're right - Sammy is not a bottom feeder. I would just say of him that he is not good enough and the name Ameobi needs to be cleansed for the good of our club once and for all.

The only way we will know if Sammy is any good is if he gets a good run in the team.
But, it's not going to happen is it and with Pardews' non rotation policy all he'll ever get is a few minutes here and there.
For the sake of his career as a pro footballer, IMO, he needs to go elsewhere and ply his trade otherwise that career will end up being wasted.

We should either give him a proper chance or sell him.

He's got a good game in him, he deserves a chance to show exactly what he's got.
