Queens Park Rangers' £4m bid for Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles has been rejected.

Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has targeted the 20-year-old centre-half as he attempts to strengthen his squad following their promotion back to the Premier League.

But new Forest chief Stuart Pearce insists the offer will not tempt owner Fawaz Al Hasawi to sell.

Moving on? Nottingham Forest's Jamaal Lascelles is a target of QPR

'QPR have let it out that they have put money on the table for him,' Pearce told the Nottingham Post.

'But I have come to build this club, not to dismantle it.

'The only way we will accept an offer for our best young players is if it is a sensational offer that ends up enabling me to strengthen the team.

'I have to know that, at the end of any negotiation, I am stronger than I was at the outset.

'But we would not take money for our best young players. The chairman has enough financial clout to trust my judgement on that.'

Meanwhile, Sheffield United have signed Blackpool defender Harrison McGahey. The 18-year-old made his debut last season.

Coventry striker Callum Wilson is joining Bournemouth in a £3million deal despite Norwich also agreeing a fee with Coventry.

And Hull City want Dundee United left-back Andrew Robertson.

Nice to be linked with young talented players rather than an ageing Manchester United crock.

Pearce talking sense. Hard to disagree with what he says though disappointing for us. I would have thought the lure of the PL for the lad is the trump card?

That was a fairly derisory bid tbh. The kid is absolute mustard and will be at a top club soon.

All deals these days start with a few opening rounds of sparring. I'm sure TF will have a valuation of what he would be prepared to pay to land his signature.

It's a good observation Rollercoaster Ranger.

I suspect Stuart Pearce rated Michael Mancienne highly when he worked with him as an under 21 player with England.

I'd like to see us show a bit of ambition and test Nottingham Forest's resolve with a £6m plus add-ins offer.
