The 20-year-old's initial deal runs until the end of the season but the Reds have the option to extend it until the summer of 2017. McCourt told Barnsley PlayerHD: "I'm delighted to join Barnsley. It's a massive club and I can't wait to get started. I want to help the club get to where it wants to be. "I like tough tackling and to get on the ball and play football, so hopefully I can get started soon."
Manchester United striker Ashley Fletcher stays on loan at Barnsley please log in to view this image Barnsley have extended Manchester United striker Ashley Fletcher's loan spell until the end of the season. Fletcher, 20, has made four appearances for Barnsley since arriving on January 7, scoring one goal. "I'm really pleased and very grateful to Manchester United for allowing us to keep Ashley to the end of the season," head coach Lee Johnson told the club's official website. "He has been a real asset to the group since joining and has improved with each game. "He'll only get better and stronger as we go along, so we're all extremely excited to have him on board as we head towards the business end of the season." Fletcher, yet to make a senior appearance for United, scored five minutes into his Barnsley debut after stepping off the bench in the first leg of the the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area final against Fleetwood.
