As much as I'd love to see Davies in the England team. Rather selfishly, i'd rather none of them went for international duty next week. City & the cup run come before this stupidly organised friendly. Big match next week. We need them to be up for it and fresh.
We all know full well that despite showing beyond all certaininty that he is nowhere near good enough to play for Man U never mind England that not only will Smalling be in the suqad but he will start with Cahill at cb in the friendly. Additionally Cleverley and Young, who are now even slated by their own fans for being jenk will be in the squad, as will all work not much else Wellbeck.
Smalling is the obvious replacement. I expect Michael Keane or Scott Wootton to be drafted in to fill the void.
Possible CB call-ups other than Davies: Lescott (Man C) Dawson (Spurs) Caulker (Cardiff) Tomkins (West Ham - never rated him, though) Shawcross (Stoke) Williamson (Newcastle - please God not him!)
whoscore.com's highest ratings for English CBs this season are as follows: 1 Davies 2 Cahill 3 Jagielka 4 Tomkins 5 Jones 6 Terry 7 Dawson 8 Williamson 9 Smalling 10 Caulker
In other positions, I expect Oxlade-C and Shaw to be in there, and possibly Nathan Redmond too. Also Adam Johnson, perhaps?
Right. So all we want this season is a top half finish, an FA cup, Europa qualification and a full England international in the squad.
League - Who honestly truly cares about a top half finish? FA Cup - Considering we have a great chance to get to Wembley, why not? Europa qualification - I don't give a **** about European football either. England - Davies deserves a callup.
I expect a whole host of 'tight hamstrings and slight calf strains' from England regulars after PL fixtures this week-end.
