The formation won't matter if the players play as awful as they did against Villa.

    Jagielka is a touchy ****.

Pardew wasn't saying "aye we're well better than Everton".

He said we were in a different league to Everton last year, and we were, we were challenging for a CL spot, and at our best we were playing some far better football than they were producing.

We were winning games throughout the season, they, as usual, didn't start playing well till the middle/end of the season.

There was nothing disrespectful about it. Pardew is entitled to his opinion, and most people would agree we were operating at a different level to Everton last season.

The formation is quite clearly the reason, IMO.

Ba and Cisse can't play together in a 4-4-2, Cabaye was inconsistent in our 4-4-2 games last season.

You're right, it wasn't a great performance, but the formation plays a part in how well the players can do.

    This is true.

The formation also won't matter if the players play as well as they did against Man U last season.

If we are to get anything from Everton we need Yohan Cabaye to dig real deep especially if we are without Tiote yet again.

Jagielka talks the talk but he's one of the weaker Everton players. If your strikers are fit and firing, there's going to be very little he can do about it. Although you'll have to get through the brick wall that is Marouane Fellaini, he'll more than likely boss this game so I can see a poor result for you lot.

Exactly, Fellaini is one very good player and we'll also do well to keep Steven Pienaar quiet, but we have some dangermen ourselves.

The question is, will they push Fellaini forwards or keep him back to cover for HBA?

I don't mind either way, I'm confident Tiote would trouble him if fit for Monday.

He's not gonna perform in every game, but like all top players, they perform more often than not.

Fellaini is in terrific form at the moment, no doubt about that but Pienaar clearly playing well now he's back at Everton.
If the report is a true account of what Jagielka has said, then claiming Newcastle massively overacheived is not exactly 'Respectful'

My comment was on the basis that Tiote is still injured, he might not be for all I know but I'd fully expect Fellaini to control a game Tiote is not involved in. Now we hear your captain and your goalkeeper are both out of the game, I can't see past Everton winning. Who IS fit for you guys?

Tiote is expected to bit fit for the match, as is Perchinho. Plus Ben Arfa is still fit <ok>

Harper is a competent keeper and Perchinho/Willo are competent CB's. If we were trying to shackle Van Persie I would be more worried about the weakening to our last line of defence than I am against Everton.

If Tiote is fit and if our front line can start playing like they've ever met each other, I would not expect the weakening at the back to be fatal (that is, we can have reasonable optimism)

Well yes, if Ben Arfa turns up Everton are in trouble, but the same goes for every other team in the division where that guy is concerned. Should be a good match, I take it it's the MNF fixture, if so go easy on Gary Neville, he likes his brother's team to do well!

I've got more time for Gary Neville than any other pundit on the box, except maybe Jeff Stelling
