This comes as no surprise at all to anyone who knows how RW operates. I would like Jackson to succeed but to my mind (even given the bad hand he has been dealt) there has not been enough improvement made since he took over to warrant this. However, at least it takes away some uncertainty for this season though I suspect any slim chance we had of staying up has now gone.
http://www.shrewsburytown.com/news/article/21feb14-mike-jackson-named-manager-1373075.aspx In some ways it is the sensible thing to do but all the bluff about a vast number of managers showing interest seems odd. Unless of course we are looking at a manager who is out of contract in the summer who works in Gloucestershire.
there was not going to be any money for an outsider. jacko takes town on into May and i wish him luck. i suspect the club is up for sale and ownership may pass from Rw to his fellow director. unless more directors follow and cash with them, imo town are doomed. it remains to be seen if our manager next season can keep town in the football league. a third occasion for for GT?
Clearly has the intellect of most football managers! Let's hope his football brain is better! Maybe like Worzel Gummidge he has two heads......one football and one spokesman!
"Jackson declined to be drawn on reports suggesting that his former Blackpool team-mate Andy Morrell might join him at the Meadow as assistant manager, following his departure from Wrexham on Monday. "I know Andy Morrell well. I played with him at Blackpool," said Jackson. "But I don't want to say too much about that, to be honest."...so that's a yes then but if he doesn't get an assistant, it looks like RW will be taking the cheap root to keep us in this league, that's if he wants us in it at all!!
