Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has sought advice on how to improve his game from Paul Scholes in the wake of the former Manchester United man criticising his lack of progress. In March, Scholes claimed Wilshere, 22, had not developed significantly as a player since making his debut in 2008. "He was right in a certain way," said Wilshere, who made his England debut at 18. "We had quite a good chat. "He explained it a bit better and told me what he thought I should work on." "When I first burst onto the scene there was all this noise and then I got injured," added Wilshere, who says he spoke to his family and contacted Gary Neville on Twitter after the criticism. "There comes a time when you stop being a kid and I think that's what Scholes is referring to. "People say 'he's young, he's got all this potential'. You have to start putting that potential in [to practice]." Wenger, who made Wilshere Arsenal's youngest ever league debutant aged 16 years and 256 days, said his "exceptional player" would "prove Scholes wrong". Good to see Wilshere respond positively from criticism from the England great. Scholes may not say much, but when he does talk, he makes sense. Wilshere will only benefit from Schole's council.
Jack needs some time off to get properly fit. It took Aaron almost a full season to get back on track and I freely admit to thinking he'd not fulfill his potential. We all know what he's capable of but now we need to see it on a consistent basis. If he could cut out the 2-3 minutes he spends on the deck after every single nudge he gets that'd be nice too....
He spends 2-3 minutes on the deck because when he gets tackled, its usually quite hard to around the knee area. He has some chronic knee problem, the root of most of his injuries, and I think it hurts him more than most when he's tackled there.
Some of the time yes but he goes down at the drop of the hat and stays down more than any other Arsenal player. I appreciate his style of football invites a challenge and I really appreciate he's had some horrific injuries. I worry these are constantly playing on his mind and affecting his play. Hopefully he'll be able to overcome this if he gets a protracted run in the side, again like Ramsey had.
He may need to adapt his style of play to increase his longevity. Either he hasn't recovered from an existing injury or his style of play isn't supported by his body. My guess is its a bit of both.
